Davidson Automotive Group is looking for a Human Resources Generalist to join our team! This position will be responsible for helping to run the daily functions of the Human Resources department including hiring and interviewing staff, onboarding, employee discipline, and enforcing company policies and practices.

Hours: 8:30am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday

 

Pay Range: $55,000 - $65,000/yr, based on experience

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Recruitment:

  • Collaborate with managers to understand the current and future needs of their departments.
  • Perform all recruiting duties, including: review resumes, phone screen applications, conduct phone interviews as needed, and coordinate and participate in onsite interviews with hiring teams.
  • Run motor vehicle background checks
  • Maintain consistent communication with candidates to ensure a professional and timely hiring experience.
  • Onboard new employees, properly complete I-9’s, review all relevant documents and first day orientation materials.
  • Follow up and ensure employee compliance as needed.
  • Manage sourcing strategies including job boards, industry networks, social media, and community outreach.
  • Maintain current relationships with local schools and automotive programs by participating in class visits, career fairs, field trips, etc. as needed.
  • Build new relationships with local schools and automotive programs as available.
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff or our Employee Assistance Program.

Employee Performance:

  • Facilitate an open and safe environment for employees to come to with concerns.
  • Coach managers on documentation, goal-setting, and performance feedback best practices.
  • Assist in identifying employee development needs and recommending training solutions and EAP solutions.
  • Assists with the creation and administration of standard Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) and corrective action documentation.
  • Partner with HR leadership on complex performance improvement plans, workplace investigations, complex employee performance concerns and termination approvals.
  • Assist with administration and support of Technician Apprentice Program.
  • Support the rollout and maintenance of employee performance review processes.
  • Administer terminations and prepares necessary documentation.

Additional HR Support:

  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives and retention strategies.
  • Assist managers with time cards as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records in HR systems.
  • Assist with safety initiatives as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Manage and organize company uniform inventory, sending uniforms as needed to other locations through inter-company mail.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • At least two years of human resources experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Empathetic and friendly personality.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, process oriented with an attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.

  • Professional and dependable demeanor.
  • Strong knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and be at least 18 years of age.

Preferred:

  • Experience with ADP
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience in HRIS/ATS systems preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or other Human Resources certifications are a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • The ability to regularly perform repetitive motion tasks such as writing and typing.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.  
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
