Job Description:
The Administrative HR Coordinator position is responsible for coordinating and managing all human resource related activities in the department of Molecular Microbiology & Immunology (MMI). Provides high level HR administrative, and organizational coordination and support for MMI Postdocs, staff, students, & faculty level positions. Serves as a primary point of contact for ISSS and handles the visa process from start to finish. Maintains the MMI personnel database, manages all hiring and HR activities for the department, manages the postdoc and faculty appointment and reappointment process, manages all administrative systems and records for personnel, & provides overall support for the MMI HR needs. Provides support to the Department Manager, Chair and Faculty.
Job Qualifications:
Education & Experience
Required: Bachelor’s degree
Required: 1-2 years of related administrative experience
And/or equivalent combination of education/experience
Experience with Visa processing is beneficial
Previous experience in an academic or research environment is advantageous
Experience in service-oriented environment is a plus
Job Competencies
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Suite Programs (Word, Excel, Access, & PowerPoint), Google Suite applications (Google docs, sheets, calendar, Gmail, etc.), and in Workday
Excellent organizational skills with particular ability to prioritize work in an environment with multiple and conflicting interests
Knowledge of employment law as well as best practices in the area of employment and employee relations
Ability to read and interpret policies and guidelines across multiple supporting offices and apply to appropriate scenarios.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work as a member of a team
Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
Must be detailed-oriented and a self-starter
Ability to handle complex and confidential information with discretion
Competency using a variety of computer software and databases
Effective customer service skills
Willingness and ability to continue to learn
