Job Summary The Associate HR Business Partner provides mid-level HR support by leading employee experience initiatives, coordinating compliance-focused processes, and serving as a key partner to HR leadership and business partners. This role supports the full employee lifecycle—from onboarding to offboarding—while helping to create a positive and compliant workplace environment.
The ideal candidate brings strong organizational and interpersonal skills, a working knowledge of employment law, and the ability to manage projects and programs independently. This role is instrumental in enhancing employee engagement, supporting retention efforts, and ensuring consistent application of HR practices across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Experience & Engagement
Research and recommend new initiatives to boost morale, belonging, and team connection
Partner with HR leadership and business partners to develop and implement programs such as milestone recognition, new hire feedback surveys, exit interview analysis, and peer-nominated awards
Plan, coordinate, and execute company-wide events and engagement activities that align with organizational culture and strategic priorities.
Employee Relations & Compliance
Serve as intake contact for employee relations concerns; provide first-level employee support; and escalate to HR Business Partners as appropriate
Facilitate workplace investigations, including documentation, interview coordination, and summaries and review findings with HR Business Partners
Stay informed on key employment laws and regulations (e.g., anti-discrimination, harassment prevention, wrongful termination) and apply them to HR practices to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risk
HR Operations & Program Support
Oversee new hire survey and exit interview processes, identifying patterns or concerns and sharing insights with HR leadership
Assist with implementation of HR initiatives, organizational changes, and department projects aligned with business goals
Draft and distribute separation letters and coordinate all aspects of the employee offboarding process, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and a positive transition experience.
Collaborate on new hire onboarding and employee status change processing, ensuring timely and accurate data entry in HR systems
Provide back-up support for HR administrative tasks such as wage garnishments, employment verifications, unemployment claims, and managing the HR inbox

Work Environment
Hybrid post 90-day introductory period
Office-based, service-oriented environment requiring frequent communication and collaboration
Schedule
Monday–Friday, standard business hours
Occasional flexibility may be required for employee events or periods of high activity
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
2–4 years of experience in human resources with emphasis on employee relations and workplace investigations
Working knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance practices
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion and professionalism
Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Experience with UKG a plus
Demonstrated ability to manage projects and priorities with minimal supervision
Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth in HR
Experience with transportation or other highly regulated industry preferred
