Description:

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serving as a key member of the Executive Team, the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) provides strategic leadership for all aspects of human capital management at Pinnacle Charter School. The CHRO is responsible for aligning HR strategies with the school’s mission, values, and organizational goals, ensuring that Pinnacle attracts, develops, and retains high-performing talent while fostering a culture of equity, collaboration, and excellence.

Compensation:

This is a full-time, 12-month position. Salary range is $127,205 - $200,335 annually, dependent upon education and experience. Additional benefits are outlined in more detail at the bottom of the job description.

 

Essential Functions:

 

Human Resource Compliance:

  • Develop, implement, and communicate HR policies including the Employee Handbook.
  • Stay apprised of legal updates and provide guidance to school ensuring compliance.
  • Coordinate all-staff trainings annually for employees.
  • Complete annual ACA reporting.
  • Provide annual reporting of personnel and HR data to CDE/CSI.
  • Oversee and manage all FMLA, ADA, worker’s compensation, unemployment, and other employee-related programs.
  • Ensure all background checks meet legal employment and volunteer requirements.
  • Serve as K-12 Title IX Coordinator and oversee Title IX reporting and processes.
  • Conduct prompt and thorough investigations into employee and Title IX concerns.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive and legally-protected information.
  • Abides by and comply with the Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA) and any other legal compliance mandates related to the employee's work.

Strategic HR Program Management:

  • Collaborate with school leaders and staff to devise strategic initiatives to support overall workplace culture.
  • Design and oversee equitable employee recruiting and onboarding practices.
  • Build sustainable pipelines for talent through partnerships with educator preparation programs and alternative licensure providers.
  • Build sustainable pipelines for talent through partnerships with local workforce centers, CDL training programs, and community organizations to support recruitment for hard-to-fill operations roles such as custodial, nutrition services, and transportation.
  • Conduct regular compensation reviews and pay analyses to ensure a competitive compensation structure for all positions.
  • Oversee the management of all HR databases (HRIS, benefits administrative system, recruiting database, etc.) and ensure all information contained in all databases is accurate.
  • Provide guidance and support with the distribution and collection of school-wide staff surveys and support communication efforts during survey administration and follow-up.
  • Lead strategic workforce planning and forecasting in partnership with academic and operational leaders.
  • Serve as a thought partner to the CEO on organizational design, change management, and staff culture.
  • Develop and implement a succession planning framework in collaboration with school leadership to identify and prepare future leaders across the organization.

Employee Relations & Support:

  • Champion a culture of accountability, continuous feedback, and professional growth across all staff roles.
  • Promote employee engagement through strategic initiatives aligned with retention and well-being.
  • Conduct annual benefits review and coordinate annual open enrollment for employees.
  • Support in the design of employee evaluation structure and build out employee evaluations.
  • Oversee employee relations matters and acts as a liaison for staff questions, concerns, and issues that may arise.

HR Department Management:

  • Supervise and coordinate department staff, operations, and activities across the entire team.
  • Oversee the daily department operations.
  • Guide, evaluate, and participate in the interview and hiring process.
  • Train employees.
  • Assist in all elements of departmental needs.
  • Fill in or cover positions if needed.
  • Conduct employee evaluations.
  • Review and approve time off requests.
  • Create and monitor team schedules.

Strategic Communication:

  • Contribute to and support the school-wide strategic communication plan.
  • Assist in crafting and disseminating emergency messages.
  • Assist in drafting, editing, and disseminating community and staff messages as needed.
  • Support with social media content as needed.
  • Provide communication consultation and support to staff as needed.

Additionally:

  • Be present and engage in Pinnacle functions and organizations to build strong relationships with students, parents, peers, and the community.
  • Maintain and deepen current educational learning on an ongoing basis.
  • Regular and timely attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

General Abilities, Knowledge, Qualifications, and Skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in strategic HR planning and management required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Leadership, Business Administration, or related field strongly preferred
  • SHRM-CP or PHR preferred, SHRM-SCP or SPHR highly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in guiding supervisors and managers in leadership best practices
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate while appreciating the diverse background of students, parents, peers, and the community
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator

Working Conditions:

Exposure/Noise Level: Occasional exposure to airborne particles, fumes, and outdoor weather conditions.  Normal school/office environment with moderate to high noise level.

Mental Functions: Analyze, collaborate, communicate, compare, compile data, compute, coordinate, copy, direct, evaluate, guide, interpersonal skills, present, report, synthesize.

Physical Activities: Office environment including computer interface. Bend, reach, sit, stand, stoop, talk, walk, and heavy person-to-person interaction with staff and community members.

Weight and Force Demands: Moderate physical activity (lifting, pulling, and pushing up to 25 pounds).

Other: May be required to work outside of normal working hours and travel for work related functions.
