Position summary:

As our Chief People Officer, you are not just leading HR — you are the architect of our organization’s people experience. Equal parts strategist, culture catalyst, and Organizational Effectiveness Champion, you will own the full spectrum of Human Resources while championing a workplace where people thrive, perform, and grow.

You’ll shape and execute a people strategy that aligns with our business goals, while also fostering a culture of belonging, high performance, and joyful collaboration. From talent acquisition and development to performance systems, DEIB (diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging), organizational design, and employee engagement — you’re accountable for ensuring every touchpoint with our team reflects our values and drives results.

This role is equal parts strategic HR leader, culture builder, and organizational effectiveness champion. You’ll oversee all people functions while also serving as the EOS Champion, partnering with the CEO (Visionary & Integrator) to translate bold ideas into strong execution, alignment, and accountability.

With a focus on team effectiveness, you will design and optimize how we work together, ensuring that our leaders are empowered, our teams are aligned, and our people have the clarity, support, and tools they need to do their best work.

Key Outcomes:

  • A strategic, scalable people infrastructure that fuels organizational growth
  •  A high-performance, values-aligned culture that attracts and retains top talent
  •  Engaged, enabled teams with clear direction, feedback, and development
  • A workplace experience that people genuinely love — joyful, inclusive, and effective

You’re successful in this role if you:

  • Combine head and heart — balancing business rigor with human insight
  • Inspire trust and action at all levels, from the boardroom to the breakroom
  • Thrive in fast-paced environments and bring calm, clarity, and confidence to complexity
  • See culture not as a “perk,” but as a strategic lever for competitive advantage
  • Lead with empathy and accountability, turning feedback into growth and vision into momentum

This is more than Human Resources. This is about unlocking the full potential of our people — and in doing so, our business.

Key Responsibilities:

Driving People Strategy

Build a future-ready, equitable workforce and people infrastructure that enables Rung to scale its mission and impact — sustainably, inclusively, and with excellence. As a result, every role is aligned with strategy, every team member is empowered to grow, and our organization can meet the evolving needs of the women and communities we serve.

You will:

  • Partner with the CEO and executive team to align people strategies with organizational priorities and mission.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a holistic people strategy backed by the EOS strategy of having the right people in the right seats
  • Oversee all HR operations: talent acquisition, compensation & benefits, compliance, employee relations, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Champion workforce planning and internal mobility pathways to support mission-driven growth and career advancement.
  • Embed DEIB as a core driver of hiring, leadership, and organizational development.
  • Performance and Accountability: Reinforce a culture where results, integrity, and accountability are non-negotiable—and where delivering on commitments is expected at every level.
  • Develop a robust people analytics function to support data-driven decision-making.

Success Looks Like:

  • 90%+ of team members report clarity in their roles and growth opportunities
  • Time-to-fill key mission-critical roles is under 45 days
  • Retention rate is >90%

Culture Leadership

Foster a joyful, connected, and values-driven culture where every person feels seen, supported, and inspired to bring their full selves to work. Ensuring that our internal culture becomes a living expression of our mission — creating a ripple effect of empowerment, trust, and shared purpose across the organization and beyond.

You will:

  • Be the steward of Rung’s values and workplace experience — ensuring joy, dignity, and belonging are part of every employee’s journey.
  • Build systems of appreciation, feedback, and growth that reinforce psychological safety and purpose.
  • Design and implement rituals, communications, and programming that deepen connection and shared identity.
  • Facilitate transparent, two-way communication between leadership and staff.

Success Looks Like:

  • ENPS (employee net promoter score) consistently above 50
  • 90%+ of employees say they “feel seen and supported”
  • 100% of employees participate in feedback and development conversations

Organizational Effectiveness Champion

Cultivate a high-performing, goal-driven, and inclusive culture by aligning leadership development, strong management practices, and intentional change management. This role ensures that every team member is empowered to thrive through clear roles, continuous feedback, and a shared commitment to belonging and excellence.

You will:

  • Design and implement leadership development programs that strengthen management capabilities at all levels.
  • Foster a culture of belonging, feedback, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive initiatives that support Rung’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging without othering.
  • Lead change management efforts that help staff navigate organizational transitions.
  • Ensure all managers are equipped with tools and training to lead equitably and effectively.
  • Align roles, responsibilities, and performance goals across the organization.

Success Looks Like:

  • 100% of teams complete quarterly health checks
  • All managers trained in inclusive leadership and feedback skills
  • 85% of staff report “my team works well together and gets things done”
  • Strategic initiatives completed on time and within scope

EOS Champion Responsibilities

Ensure that teams are aligned, accountable, and operating at a high level of clarity and collaboration — with the right systems, tools, and rhythms in place to drive results. This will allow the organization to run smoothly, adapt quickly, and deliver on its strategic priorities — without burnout, confusion, or mission drift.

You will:

  • Serve as the Champion in the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), translating the CEO’s vision into focused execution.
  • Lead weekly Level 10 meetings, own the organizational scorecard, and ensure progress toward quarterly Rocks.
  • Project manage the EOS action steps required by the executive leadership team.
  • Proactively identify and solve issues across departments to ensure traction and alignment.
  • Cascade communication across the organization with clarity and consistency.

Success Looks Like:

  • Quarterly Rock completion >90%
  • EOS Scorecard metrics on track across all departments
  •  90% of issues resolved in L10 meetings within one week
  • All staff can articulate our Vision, Goals, and Priorities in pulse checks

Who You Are

  • A values-driven leader who sees HR as a vehicle for justice, dignity, and high performance.
  • A systems thinker with the heart of a coach — skilled at balancing structure with empathy.
  • An experienced team builder who thrives in mission-driven, community-centered environments.
  • A clear communicator who brings calm, clarity, courage, and competency to complex challenges.
  • Deeply committed to equity, women’s advancement, and sustainable growth.

What you need to bring us:

  • A BS/BA degree from an accredited college/university; MBA or MA/MS in human resources or related field.
  • A minimum of 15 years of HR experience, with at least five years of executive HR experience and at least five years of international HR experience.
  • Senior-level human resource certifications from SHRM and/or HRCI.
  • Experience in a nonprofit, community-based, or mission-driven organization
  • Certified or highly experienced in EOS, or willing to be trained
  • Proven track record of driving inclusive leadership, team development, and cross-functional alignment.
