Provisional Employment: This posting is open to anyone who meets the position requirements. Provisional employees are not certified employees, but are eligible to receive benefits on the 1st of the month following 30 days of employment.
Selection Process: Applicants who meet the criteria and requirements stated on the job posting will be placed on a hiring list for consideration. Hiring Managers may interview/hire anyone from the list.
Final Selection Process: You will be notified if you are invited to participate in the final selection process which may include an interview, job simulation, work sample submission, or other evaluation method.
Pre-Employment Screening: This position requires a comprehensive medical examination including a drug test, psychological assessment, and a thorough Saint Paul Police background check including criminal history and employment history as a condition of employment.
Upon completing the ICPOET education program and POST licensure eligibility, continued employment and appointment to the position of Police Officer is contingent upon successful completion of the 16-week Recruit Academy and probationary period. A critical element to successful completion of the 16-week Recruit Academy is the physical fitness test. Continued employment is also contingent upon passing a probationary period of 2080 work hours in the position of Police Officer following successful completion of the Recruit Academy.
