This position serves
as the Deputy CHRO who is responsible for the direct oversight of Human
Resources Directors responsible for recruitment, talent acquisition management,
background investigations, and HR operational support functions in a 24/7
public safety and corrections environment.
The Deputy CHRO executes workforce priorities established by the CHRO and
ensures consistent, compliant, and timely delivery of HR services across DPSCS
institutions, community supervision operations, and headquarters units
statewide.
This position serves as the acting authority in the absence of the CHRO and
must demonstrate executive presence, sound judgment, and the ability to
maintain trusted stakeholder relationships with executive leadership,
appointing authorities, and institutional leadership. Additional key
responsibilities include:

Leadership Coordination & Reporting
Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Ten (10) years
of progressive, professional HR experience to include at least five (5) years
of HR supervisory or managerial experience involving recruitment, talent
acquisition, and background investigation operations. At least three (3) years
of supervisory experience must include HR responsibilities within a law
enforcement, public safety, corrections, criminal justice, or other 24/7
safety-critical government environment.
Notes:
1. Professional HR
management work in the areas of recruitment and selection, classification,
salary administration, employee relations, test development and validation or
as a generalist may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four
years of the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a master's degree
from an accredited college or university in the fields of Business
Administration, HR/personnel administration, human resources management, or
industrial/organizational psychology for 2 years of experience.
3. Candidates may
substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned
officer in human resources management classifications or human resources
management specialty codes in the human resources management field of work on a
year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
