Signature Aviation is seeking a strategic and experienced Director, Labor & Employee Relations to lead the company’s labor and employee relations strategy. This role will be responsible for managing union relationships, negotiating and administering collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), and overseeing a team that handles complex employee relations matters and impartially conducting human resources-related investigations across all locations globally. The ideal candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and help to foster a positive employee experience while proactively mitigating company risk.



Responsibilities

Labor Relations (Union):

  • Serve as the company’s lead negotiator and strategist alongside counsel in union contract negotiations and labor engagement.
  • Oversee the administration and consistent application of CBAs, in partnership with HR, Operations, and legal counsel.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with company management and union representatives to enable productive, solutions-oriented dialogue.
  • Lead grievance, and disciplinary processes in unionized environments, ensuring compliance and consistency.
  • Work with legal counsel to represent the company’s position in labor-related arbitrations 
  • Monitor and analyze labor law changes, industry trends, and union activity to inform strategy and reduce exposure.
  • Develop and conduct labor relations training programs for management.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, feedback, and responsiveness that reinforces the company’s direct relationship philosophy.

 

Employee Relations:

  • Lead a team of employee relations professionals responsible for managing investigations, high-risk employee complaints, and sensitive workplace issues.
  • Partner where appropriate with other teams to include Safety, Security, Legal, Communications, etc…
  • Establish best practices and protocols for helping General Managers address misconduct, performance issues, and workplace conflict.
  • Provide expert guidance to business leaders on employee relations, related policy compliance, and risk mitigation.
  • Track and analyze employee relations trends to inform policy updates and targeted training efforts in partnership with Talent and Legal team.
  • Maintains current knowledge on applicable employment laws in partnership with Compliance and Legal team.

 

Strategic Leadership:

  • Partner with HR, Legal, and company leadership to shape and support a positive and compliant workplace culture.
  • Support policy design and consistent interpretation of workplace standards across all Signature departments.
  • Contribute to M&A due diligence and integration plans related to labor and employee relations matters.


Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Labor Relations, Business, or related field required
•    10+ years of progressive HR experience with experience in labor relations, union negotiations, and employee relations.
•    Demonstrated success leading collective bargaining negotiations and union contract administration.
•    Strong knowledge of U.S. labor law, NLRB regulations, and employment law.
•    Experience successfully managing a team of professionals and leading through influence in a matrixed organization.
•    Exceptional interpersonal, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
•    Excellent investigative skills including listening, written and oral communication, documentation, presentation and organizational abilities.  
•    Superior ability to positively relate to and communicate with guests and team members
•    Ability to travel as needed, approximately 25-40% of the time for field investigations, union negotiations, site assessments and other company requirements or meetings.  This includes the ability to safely drive a vehicle, sometimes at long distances, be insurable by the company’s insurance policy, have and maintain a valid driver license and passport and fly on commercial aircraft domestically and internationally.
