Job Title: Human Resource Generalist

FLSA: Non-Exempt

General Function

Recruits for warehouse open positions and processes onboarding. Manages employee information in HRIS system. Utilizes administrative and organizational skills to complete daily HR functions. Facilitates training for new employees.

Reporting Relations:

Accountable and Reports to: EFC Director, E-Commerce Fulfillment Manager 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reports to work when scheduled and on time. Responsible for adherence to the company policies and/or department attendance policy.

  • Performs general administrative duties for the facility including but not limited to, maintaining HR forms, assimilating orientation packets, performs data entry into HRIS system, assisting applicants, answering questions and assisting with general requests

  • Assists/Facilitates the employment process including but not limited to conducting pre-screens, checking references, reviewing background checks, preparing new hire paperwork, conducting drug screens, creating new employee files, preparing training schedules, and coordinating onboarding processes

  • Conducts interviewing of external applicants for warehouse open positions. Evaluates employment factors, job experience, education, training, skills, knowledge and abilities and consults with management to recommend candidates that will move forward in the employment process

  • Completes orientation for all new hires and transfers. Provides initial training to all new hires.

  • Performs scanning of new hire documents and terminated employee files into imaging system.

  • Assists management team to track, schedule, and processes 30-day follow-up reviews.

  • Assists management team with holding meetings for disciplinary actions

  • Maintains employee files and medical files and documentation ensuring they are orderly and up to date. Handles highly confidential information to company standards.

  • Responsible for updating and maintaining new and existing employee information in Workday system.

  • Generates and audits weekly work schedules. Submits to management team for approval and posting.

  • Reviews and submits Payroll weekly

  • Maintains safety and compliance standards. Including but not limited to recording all workplace injuries and accidents and posting required safety documentation.

  • Creates and displays monthly birthday calendar and employee promotional bulletins

  • Responsible for the organizational planning, coordination, communication and preparation of company events, including tracking expenses. Recommends activities to management for approval

  • Coordinates the Employee of the Month and Employee of the Year programs, including planning, communication and preparation.

  • Maintains company bulletin board communication and updates weekly.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:

  • Strong computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office, spreadsheet, good writing, grammar, and punctuation skills.

  • Good administrative and organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Must be able to multitask and handle interruptions with ease.

  • Constant handling of highly confidential information and documentation with discretion

  • Good verbal communication, telephone and interpersonal skills presenting a positive representation of PDI to in and outside contacts.

Education and Experience:

• High school education or equivalent required.

• Administrative experience preferred.

• Human Resources experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

This job is considered a semi-skilled position sedentary in nature. Frequent to constant handling, grasping, pinching, full reaching motions occur, constant listening, talking or hearing. Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of 25 pounds.

Working Conditions:

  • Office (climate controlled)

  • Frequently required to go across busy warehouse dock while encountering cold temperatures (35º to -10 º) and warehouse conditions.

Equipment Used to Perform Job:

Office telephone system, P.C., fax machine, photocopier, calculator, Microsoft Office, Metafile.

Has frequent contact with employees’ company-wide and potential hires through interviewing.
