About the Position:
Prescribes individual and/or group lessons designed to assist students in learning drivers’ education. Provides instruction to students enrolled in Drivers Education, Workplace Communications, Employability Skills, or GED. Conducts and manages driver’s education classes.

Primary Position Objectives
Directs staff engaged in providing career technical education training for all students, and ensures departmental programs and standards meet all DOL, PRH, Center and The Bizzell Group requirements. Ensures that instruction is rigorous and relevant; collaborates with academic instructors to provide applied academics in trade. Works with work-based learning coordinator and career transition readiness staff to place students in work-based learning and permanent employment. Complies with PRH 3.2, 3.5, 3.6-3.14, 3.20; Appendices 302, 303, 306, 307, as appropriate.
About the Position:
· Ensure approved curriculum is being taught.
· Train, assign and supervise career technical training program.
· Supervise teaching in classroom and complete monthly evaluations of each teacher.
· Prepare and control budget in cooperation with Center Director.
· Ensure an adequate supply of materials is on hand.
· Monitors Training Achievement Records (TARS) on a weekly basis; audits and documents 10% monthly.
· Ensure proper records on student employee’s progress, attendance, etc., are kept by instructors.
· Acquaint staff with and ensure they carry out their functional working relationships.
· Help teachers solve problems of student employee’s control and discipline.
· Recommends the hiring and retention of teachers to the Center Director.
· Makes provision for adjustment of class sizes to increase utilization of staff members or to cover vacationing or absent staff members. Work with Deputy Center Director and Academic Manager to ensure well balanced classes center-wide as indicated in Job Corps policies and procedures.
· Coordinates CTST projects, as appropriate.
· Works toward meeting outcome measurement system goals.
· Continual support and adherence to the CDSS/CSS/Standards of Conduct Plan and ensures that the PCDP is used in a timely, continual, and effective manner to help support students.
· Assists with quarterly graduation exercises.
· Complies with all DOL guidelines, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures.
· Maintains good housekeeping (including areas are landscaped, free of weeds and overgrowth of grass) in all areas and complies with safety practices.
· Assists with quarterly graduation exercises.
· Holds regular staff meetings at least twice a month with instructors, documents meetings and submits documentation to the Deputy Center Director and Center Director.
· Screens and attempts to solve all student problems before referring them to the Center Director or other areas.
· Models, mentors, monitors appropriate Career Success Standards.
· Evaluates personnel under his/her management and makes recommendations regarding disciplinary actions, promotions, and/or merit increases.
· Participation in PRH mandated staff training is mandatory. Failure to participate may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
· Hold periodic CIC meetings as described in the policies and procedures of Job Corps.
· Continually monitor data center reports related to vocational performance including OMS, CTTRC, and placement information generated on a weekly and monthly basis. Also train staff on how to read reports to correct career technical training problems.
· Sets monthly production expectations (e.g., # of trade completers; # of GEDs/HSDs, # of Driver Licenses, # of CTT Certifications) for each instructor; reviews attainment; develops corrective action plans as needed.
· Conducts monthly reconciliation of OMS10 and 20 and CTTRC10 and 20 with CIS and center data; submits corrections as needed.
· Ensures that instructors are ensuring students are participating in continuous, and increasing in complexity throughout training, Work Based Learning opportunities to include, speakers, shadowing (on and off center), job site visits and internships of varying lengths. Promote home-based WBL.
Analyze LMI data related to the geographic regions that students arrive from and make necessary recommendations for vocational changes to the RDOL office for trades that are inadequate.

Experience
Minimum of two to three years related experience and/or training.
One to two years’ supervisory experience required.
Education
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and/or equivalent combination of education, certifications, credentials and related experience related to the industry of the Career Technical Training Offerings.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Certified, licensed, or accredited in the state in which the center is located, or is accredited by a professional trade organization.
For NTC, instructor must be certified by union or trade organization, or by a national trade certifying organization. (RO may waive if center is unable to hire certified or licensed instructors, but candidates must pursue certification.)
Valid State Driver’s License.
