Summary:

The Human Resources Assistant plays a crucial role in fostering a dynamic, efficient, and engaging HR environment, primarily focused on supporting the HR Manager with recruiting and onboarding functions. This role involves planning and executing HR activities to ensure candidates and new hires have enriching experiences while contributing to the organization's success. The HR Assistant is responsible for maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality while assisting in various HR processes.

Dixie Tech is a public technical college located on a state-of-the-art campus in St. George, Utah. The College has 29 Council on Occupational Education-accredited programs that offer certifications in high-demand, high-pay professions.

This part-time position works 28 hours per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with applicant tracking and communication
  • Assist with scheduling interviews and preparing materials for the hiring team
  • Assist with coordinating orientation sessions and ensure that all necessary equipment and resources are available for new hires
  • Collaborate with the HR Manager to prepare and distribute new hire paperwork and orientation materials
  • Help create and conduct a positive and welcoming onboarding experience for new employees
  • Assist in tracking the progress of employee onboarding
  • Assist with assigning and tracking employee training
  • Assist with maintaining job descriptions with clearly defined performance expectations for all positions
  • Assist in analyzing data to identify areas for improvement in the recruiting and onboarding process
  • Collaborate with the HR Manager on various HR projects and initiatives
  • Provide administrative support to the HR Manager as needed
  • Stay updated on HR best practices and industry trends
  • Have an attitude of innovation and consistent improvement of processes
  • Ensure that students and staff are treated respectfully and equally without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, age (40 or over), national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy, childbirth, or pregnancy-related condition. Report all violations immediately to HR or Student Services
  • Compliance with Dixie Tech Policies and Procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required or two years of college completed with plans to complete a bachelor's degree
  • Previous education and/or experience in human resources is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office/Google Suite applications
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 25 pounds or less. The position requires manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
