Our Services:

The Child and Family Guidance Center provides comprehensive and collaborative outpatient mental health services to children, adolescents and their families throughout the San Fernando and Antelope Valleys.

The Position:

We are seeking a full-time Human Resources Assistant for our Human Resources department. This position will be responsible for supporting Human Resources staff and all functions within the Human Resources department.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Support daily HR operations including employee relations, onboarding, offboarding, and recruitment processes.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and internal policies, including I-9 documentation, licensing, and workplace postings.
  • Assist with HR systems and employee support, including timekeeping troubleshooting, password resets, and HR inquiries via phone and email.
  • Provide bilingual (English/Spanish) support to employees and clients as needed.
  • Coordinate onboarding and separation processes, including new hire setup, orientation, exit processing, and system access management.
  • Support recruitment activities such as resume screening, phone interviews, scheduling, and applicant tracking.
  • Generate HR reports for leadership, monitor performance evaluations, and assist with compliance tracking and audits related to certifications, training, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support benefits administration, leave of absence processes, and workers’ compensation claims, including documentation and follow-up.
  • Assist with workplace safety programs, OSHA compliance, drills, ergonomic assessments, and required postings across facilities.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives including recognition programs, company events, wellness activities, and internal communications updates.
  • Maintain and update company recognition platforms (new hires, promotions, birthdays, licensed employees).
  • Provide general administrative support such as maintaining office supplies, organizing shared spaces, coordinating travel and catering, and assisting with special HR projects.
  • Attend HR meetings and take accurate meeting minutes; distribute notes, track action items, and maintain confidential records of discussions and decisions
  • Collaborate with managers and other departments on HR-related matters
  • Perform other administrative and clerical duties as assigned

    Skills You Need:

    • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish required.
    • Must be able to exemplify the Center’s “Workplace Vision” of treating everyone with dignity and respect.
    • Minimum of 2 years of successful administrative work; HR experience preferred.
    • MS Excel (pivot tables), Word, Outlook and PowerPoint and Adobe proficiency.
    • Must be have a high level of attention to detail/accuracy, highly organized, resourceful, productive, and dependable.
    • Must have a good sense of judgment in handling employee issues as pertaining to the position.
    • Must be able to prioritize and plan work activities and use time effectively.
    • Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently with minimal oversight.
    • Must be able to complete projects and reports in a timely fashion.
    • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of all employee records, information and employee situations.
    • Must be able to get along with others in a courteous and respectful manner.
    • Must have a good attendance record in addition to being punctual by consistently being on time to work, meetings, and appointments.
    • Must continuously have a clean driving record in order to be insurable under the Center's automobile insurance policy.

    Hours:       

    • FSLA Status: non-exempt
    • 40 Hours (Full Time) 8:00 am- 5:00 pm (Monday- Friday)
    • Work schedule is based on the needs of the Center

    Compensation:
     $21.63 – $24.04 per hour, based on experience.

    Education Required:

    • High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
