Position Overview

Reporting to the HR Manager, the Human Resources Assistant is primarily responsible for providing support to the human resources department with various HR functions, primarily focusing on recruitment and onboarding activities. This position involves sourcing, screening, and coordinating the hiring process for open positions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HR processes, exceptional organizational skills, and a passion for supporting a high-performing workforce. Often these responsibilities will be confidential or sensitive in nature and will have a specific focus that aligns with departmental/business needs. Responsibilities may include a focus on recruitment, administration, benefits and potentially payroll tasks to support an employee focused and high performing workplace. The general nature of this role is to allow for training and development across all aspects of the HR function. This team member may split their time between two facilities to support the plant floor employees and should be comfortable walking the production floor regularly.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist and support the HR Team in an administrative capacity on HR processes, projects, events, and initiatives.
  • Responsible for HR file maintenance, including scanning/uploading information into employee files (attendance forms, disciplines, medical documentation, etc.
  • Assist in the full-cycle recruitment process, including posting job openings, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks.
  • Coordinate the pre-employment process for all new hires to include setting up background checks, scheduling drug screens, and scheduling new employee orientation.
  • Assist with employee onboarding, ensuring new hires have all necessary documents and information to start their roles.
  • Compile New Employee Orientation folders, ensuring there are enough copies for each new hire in NEO.
  • Maintain document counts and order additional resources as needed to make sure there are always complete NEO folders available.
  • Ensure all labor law posters are reviewed annually, as well as ensure any posting requirement changes are met as needed.
  • Responsible for updating the Communication boards with HR information in all Southeast facilities.
  • Assist with HR projects as needed, including employee engagement, compliance, and training programs.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and plant safety standards and with applicable regulatory requirements while following the company�s Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Ensure that required competencies to carry out these functions affecting product legality, safety and quality are met in accordance with the Quality Policy and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Administrative assistant experience, ideally in an HR Department
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office platform
  • Demonstrates high energy, approachability, and agility
  • Results driven, self-motivated change agent
  • Ability to effectively and clearly communicate both in writing and verbally
  • Ability to multi-task and change focus as needed
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Ability to maintain professional focus and demeanor
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Strong customer service mentality including the ability to interact with a wide range of personalities and positions within the organization
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor�s degree in human resources, Business Administration or related field
  • Knowledge of employment laws and their practical application in business including, but not limited to FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, and HIPAA
  • Experience working in various HRIS systems to include ATS, payroll/ benefits platforms
  • Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment

Working Conditions

Office environment with frequent visits to the plant/manufacturing floor where employee will be exposed to loud noise, moving machinery parts, airborne particles and fumes from food processing equipment.
