The Opportunity

This is a newly created role. You won't be stepping into someone else's shoes — you'll be building and owning the HR function at SVDC. You'll manage the full employee lifecycle from recruiting through offboarding, serve as the first point of contact for employee relations, and keep our operations compliant and running smoothly. What You'll Do

  • Own the full hiring funnel: post jobs, screen applicants, conduct phone interviews, and deliver a shortlist to leadership
  • Execute all digital onboarding — Bamboo packets, system access, and Day 1 orientation
  • Manage BambooHR and Ease platforms; keep all employee records accurate and current
  • Be the go-to for employees and managers on HR questions, concerns, and workplace issues
  • Lead Level 1 counseling sessions and draft written warnings and PIPs
  • Partner with our outside HR firm on complex or high-risk situations
  • Maintain 100% audit-ready digital personnel files
  • Track license and certification renewals proactively
  • Own PTO tracking, benefits administration, and open enrollment support

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of HR experience; California Labor Law knowledge required
  • Experience with BambooHR or a similar HRIS platform
  • Strong written communication skills — you will be the paper trail that protects our team
  • High emotional intelligence; able to hold challenging conversations with empathy and professionalism
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and self-directed — you take ownership without needing to be reminded
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
