Richland Library is seeking to hire a HR Coordinator at our Main location.

Sample Duties:

  • Maintains HR and payroll records for all new hires, transfers, promotions, upgrades, exiting employees, and retirees; and communicates with all appropriate internal departments; provides supervisor with any necessary information and assistance related to personnel changes
  • Assists in the recruiting, hiring, and onboarding, processes
  • Organizes, compiles and updates employee records and documentation
  • Assists with applicant tracking, communication and job opening requisitions; answers applicant questions; may assist supervisors with scheduling interviews, checking references, and related activities
  • Handles the calendar for HR leaders within the department; communicates information and arrangements appropriately
  • Assists with meeting preparations and materials
  • Serves as a backup to talent acquisition by reviewing, analyzing and vetting online applications and attached documents using applicant tracking software, based on requirements and identifying potential hires
  • Maintains office supplies inventory; places orders for supplies and equipment using financial applications
  • Creates quarterly reports on key talent acquisition metrics
  • Sorts and distributes daily mail
  • Provides administrative support for HR staff
  • Responds and researches for unemployment claims, ensuring timely and accurate handling in compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
  • Back up support to Benefits Manager by occasionally administering benefit enrollment or separation process, coordinating workers’ compensation claims, managing benefit deduction updates in UKG, and serving as a resource to employees by sharing benefits information during orientation for new hires.
  • Participates in the evaluation process of ERGs to ensure alignment with the library’s mission, values, and Brand Promises; in correlation, assists in determining employee eligibility for participation in internal groups based on established criteria and company needs.
  • Creates and maintains department presentations
  • Familiarizes new hires with the Library’s culture and practices by distributing packets of necessary information and reviewing policies, payment systems and benefit programs
  • Learns and consistently exhibits Richland Library’s brand promises in all interactions with customers and colleagues; provides outstanding customer service to all internal and external customers; successfully ascertains and meets the individualized needs of each customer
  • Works outside of standard business hours, including nights and weekends based on organizational responsibilities and job requirements


Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or related discipline required; supplemented by some directly related experience working in an HR department; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.


Location, Salary & Hours:

Where: Richland Library Main, 1431 Assembly Street, Columbia, SC 29201

Salary: $41,925 annually, plus excellent benefits.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week: Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 5:30 pm with evening, weekend or emergency hours being possible.

Job Role & Level: P1; Pay Grade & Salary Band: 5; FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
