We currently seek an HR Coordinator to provide support with day-to-day HR operations/functions, including, but not limited to, recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, performance management, safety, training/staff development, and compliance. In this role, the HR Coordinator will utilize empathy and understanding as these skills will be integral for successfully managing employee relationships and building a thriving and inclusive workplace culture.
This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting pay range of $68,678 - $70,000/annually (DOE).
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to internal and external HR related inquiries and/or requests. Provides appropriate assistance or redirects to the appropriate individual(s) within the agency.
- Provide effective HR support/guidance to employees/management in relation to employment policies and procedures, benefits, leaves, performance management, organizational change, and other HR related matters.
- Support recruitment by developing and maintaining qualified and diverse pipelines using creative techniques to proactively source candidates. Utilize resume databases, job boards, networking, social media, virtual events, job fairs and employee referrals, etc. to target candidates with the desired skill set and experience. Assists with the interview process as needed.
- Process pre-employment health, criminal background, and reference checks.
- Work in partnership with with Youth Homes' leadership teams to colloborate/support staff training and learning activities.
- Oversee New Employee Orientation (NEO) and assist with on-boarding processes.
- Responsible for benefits administration that includes enrollments, changes, and terminations. Educate staff on various employee benefit programs, including the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
- Assist with leaves of absence, safety/risk management and Workers’ Compensation.
- Maintain employment records related to events such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions.
- Oversee the processing and maintenance of I-9 documentation/files.
- Assist with processing of terminations and off-boarding of employees.
- Assist with the preparation, implementation and tracking of the performance review process.
- Liaise with other departments or functions (e.g. payroll)
- Generate various reports on HR activities.
- Assist with ad-hoc HR projects.
- Other duties as assigned by the CHRO.
Key Qualifications
- A minimum of an associate’s degree in a relevant field of study. An equivalent of education and/or experience may be considered.
- A minimum of two years of professional experience in human resources, administration, or in a learning and development role.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- A core understanding of HR policies, procedures, and labor laws/regulations.
- Extensive knowledge of California employment laws/regulations and compliance.
- Possess a proactive, self-starter mindset with the ability to anticipate and address workplace needs.
- Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
- Solid understanding of, and prior experience with HRIS and payroll platforms, preferably Paychex.
- Working knowledge of MS Office.

- Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study
- HR certification
