Our client is looking for an HR Generalist who’s eager to grow under the mentorship of experienced consultants while gaining hands-on exposure to a wide range of HR functions and clients. Candidates with 2–4 years of HR experience, along with curiosity, adaptability, and strong communication skills will thrive in this role.

*Must be based in the DMV area due to onsite team and client meetings*

Position Summary:

The HR Generalist is primarily focused on aiding in the delivery of HR client services in compliance, employee relations, performance management, onboarding, and general operations. This is a highly collaborative and client-facing role that requires agility and a self-starter mindset.

The HR Generalist will work closely with internal senior consultants while supporting day-to-day HR operations for various clients. This role provides exposure to client-facing work and the opportunity to build relationships with stakeholders across all levels of our clients’ organizations, while being mentored and guided by senior team members.


Responsibilities:

General HR Support

  • Provide administrative support to HR consultants managing multiple client accounts.
  • Assist in maintaining client employee records and ensuring data accuracy in HR systems.
  • Respond to employee and manager inquiries related to HR policies, benefits, and procedures (with guidance as needed).
  • Monitor shared HR inboxes and respond to routine inquiries
  • Assist in coordinating HR calendar activities such as key compliance deadlines, employee check- ins, and benefit enrollment periods
  • Conduct preliminary research on HR topics (ex: compliance questions, local regulations) to support client needs
  • Offer responsive, client-facing HR support while engaging with staff, managers, and executive leaders to address a wide range of HR needs.

Recruiting & Onboarding

  • Post job openings to online platforms and track candidate responses.
  • Schedule interviews and coordinate communication with applicants.
  • Prepare new hire paperwork and assist with onboarding processes.

Employee Records & Documentation

  • Collect and organize employee documents (e.g., I-9s, direct deposit forms, signed policies).
  • Support clients with compliance-related tracking such as training, certifications, or handbook acknowledgments.

HR Systems & Reporting

  • Update employee data in HRIS platforms under the direction of senior staff.
  • Assist in pulling reports and organizing information for audits or client meetings.
  • Support clients in tracking time off balances and employee absences

Payroll and Benefits

  • Support compliance with wage and hour laws
  • Enter or audit payroll changes (ex: new hires, terminations, pay adjustments in client HRIS/payroll systems
  • Track employee benefit enrollments and follow up on missing or incomplete submissions
  • Reconcile employee benefit deductions

Special Projects

  • Support HR initiatives like employee engagement surveys, handbook revisions, or benefit
  • enrollment tracking.
  • Contribute to documentation, toolkits, and client resources as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Requirements:
  • 2-4 years of HR experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or a related field or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Experience working in multiple industries is helpful but not required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, with little day-to-day management, in addition to working collaboratively with colleagues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly as projects dictate
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment as needed
  • Willingness to work overtime and flexible hours during peak periods.
