About the Position
The HR Generalist is a key member of Methodical's admin team, responsible for building and maintaining a thriving people ecosystem across all Methodical locations. This person manages all aspects of the employee life cycle, including recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, payroll oversight, compliance, employee relations, and culture development. The HR Generalist partners closely with the CFO, other department heads, and outsourced HR partner to ensure that Methodical's people systems align with our mission, values, and growth goals.
Position Responsibilities
Recruiting & Onboarding
- Collaborate with Managers on recruiting, including posting available positions online
- Conduct phone screens for key positions and coordinate interviews with hiring managers
- Collaborate with Managers to draft and send offer letters and complete final hiring paperwork
- Oversee onboarding process for all new hires, including orientation and training
- Create, update, and maintain list of active job descriptions ensuring uniformity across teams
Employee Compensation & Benefits
- Update and maintain company-wide pay bands and conduct regular compensation audits
- Partner with the Finance team to oversee payroll, ensuring accuracy in hours, pay, and tips
- Manage open enrollment and employee benefits administration, including enrolling new hires
- Update, maintain, and distribute the Employee Handbook to all employees
- Oversee PTO and time-off policies and regularly monitor employee balances
- Administer sick leave, FMLA, workers comp, and company benefit programs
- Publish annual holiday schedule and ensure adherence across all departments
Culture & Engagement
- Facilitate the quarterly "Methodista Pulse" survey and follow-up actions
- Ensure Managers recognize employees who embody Methodical's "Methodista" values
- Help shape multi-site company culture through regular events and ongoing Slack communications
- Partner with leadership to create meaningful team-building and culture-forward initiatives
- Maintain a regular onsite presence to build strong relationships with staff across all locations
- Serve as a sounding board and coach for managers on personnel and performance issues
- Facilitate manager coaching and training sessions to build leadership capabilities
- Oversee employee reviews, self-reflections, coaching plans, performance plans, and promotions
- Track key HR metrics including tenure, turnover, and other demographic insights
- Resolve personnel issues in collaboration with managers and leadership
Compliance & HR Systems
- Own and manage all HR systems including iSolved and Employee Navigator
- Ensure compliance with federal and state labor laws and workplace safety regulations
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee files, policy updates, and process documentation
- Collaborate on internal file server and/or information system with other leaders (eg, company Wiki)
- Support legal compliance for pay, benefits, and labor relations through proactive monitoring
- Manage employee certifications (OSHA, Serve-Safe, Drivers, SCA/Coffee, etc.) and renewals
- Coordinate with outsourced HR partner for support on critical & strategic issues
Job Type
- Full-time, Salaried
- Primarily in-person, but with flexibility to WFH
- Located at all Methodical locations, including roaster and cafés, in Greenville & Columbia
- Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend or after-hours availability for company events or urgent HR needs
About You
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field required
- Experienced in HR, ideally within hospitality, retail, and small-to-mid-size businesses required
- Knowledgeable in payroll systems, pay structures, benefits administration, and compliance a plus
- Human Resources or other professional certifications a plus
- Excellent communicator-empathetic, organized, and diplomatic
- Passionate about people, culture, and helping others thrive in their work
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable handling confidential information
- Comfortable leading recruiting, onboarding, and training initiatives
- Skilled at balancing hands-on execution with strategic HR vision
- Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds
