ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for an experienced HR Generalist who thrives in a fast-paced, high-change environment and enjoys being the go-to person for both employees and managers. This role spans HR Operations, Benefits, Employee Relations, Internal Communications, and coordination of FMLA/ADA with an external vendor.

You’ll be deeply involved in day-to-day HR execution while also supporting communications, events, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires strong judgment, comfort with systems, and the ability to manage a lot of moving parts at once. For someone who enjoys learning, problem-solving, and variety, this role is both challenging and fun.

If you’re not comfortable with technology, struggle to learn systems quickly, or prefer highly repetitive work, this role will not be a fit.

RESPONSIBILITIES

HR Operations & Employee Relations

  • Independently manage core HR operational processes including onboarding, employee lifecycle changes, documentation, and compliance tracking
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions related to HR policies, benefits, leave, and general employee relations matters
  • Partner with managers on day-to-day employee relations questions, escalating as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate employee data and ensure high data integrity across HR systems
  • Support investigations, documentation, and follow-up related to employee relations matters

Benefits, FMLA & ADA

  • Serve as the internal HR partner for employees navigating FMLA, ADA, and leave-related questions
  • Coordinate closely with a third-party leave administrator to ensure timely, accurate handling of cases
  • Help employees understand the process, expectations, and next steps throughout their leave journey
  • Track cases, documentation, and timelines to ensure compliance and a positive employee experience
  • Identify trends, issues, or gaps and escalate or address them appropriately

Internal Communications

  • Own and execute HR-related internal communications, ensuring messaging is clear, accurate, and employee-friendly
  • Design polished materials using Canva, including presentations, flyers, one-pagers, and visual content
  • Create and edit internal videos or multimedia content to support benefits education, wellness initiatives, and company updates
  • Translate complex HR topics into clear, accessible communications for employees

Events, Presentations & Programs

  • Support planning and execution of company events, wellness initiatives, and HR-led programs
  • Develop presentations and visual materials for employee meetings, leadership sessions, and company-wide communications
  • Be hands-on and flexible, supporting initiatives across the HR team as needed

Systems, Data & Continuous Improvement

  • Confidently navigate HR systems and quickly learn new tools and platforms
  • Use Excel and other tools to track data, reconcile information, and support reporting needs
  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements to processes, templates, and workflows
  • Partner with HR teammates to implement process enhancements and support organizational growth

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3–5+ years of progressive HR experience in a generalist, operations, or employee relations role
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to learn systems quickly and independently
  • Proven experience handling employee questions and employee relations matters
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Canva for professional-quality designs and presentations
  • Strong Excel skills or demonstrated ability to quickly learn and use Excel effectively
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and ability to handle sensitive information

Strongly Preferred

  • Experience partnering with third-party vendors (leave administrators, benefits providers, etc.)
  • Experience in a fast-growing, high-change, or complex organization
  • Video creation or editing experience for internal communications
  • Experience supporting investigations or compliance-related work

You’ll Be Successful If You..

  • Are comfortable being the “first stop” for employee questions
  • Can explain complex or sensitive topics clearly and calmly
  • Learn quickly and enjoy figuring things out without step-by-step direction
  • Stay organized and detail-focused even when managing multiple priorities
  • Enjoy variety, change, and a fast pace

Why This Role

This is a high-impact HR Generalist role with broad exposure across HR operations, employee relations, communications, and programs. It’s a lot of responsibility and a lot of variety, very much a drinking-from-a-firehose role,  but for the right person, it’s engaging, energizing, and a great opportunity to grow.
