Overview

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the day-to-day HR and Benefits activities related to Praxis’s plant operations working closely with supervision and management.  This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits design and implementation, policy implementation, performance management, compliance, documentation and recordkeeping. The role will administer various HR plans & procedures for all company personnel, assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies, procedures and handbooks. The role is also a critical backup to the other functional roles within the HR Department

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with benefits broker on employee benefits issues.
  • Coordinates review and implementation of benefits plan design changes.
  • Research and offer advice on HR issues, policy changes, procedure changes, etc.
  • In concert with the HR Leadership Team, develops and reinforces employment-related policies and procedures, including the Employee Handbook.
  • Aids in the implementation or automation of HR policies and practices.
  • Responsible to perform or assist with administration of HR system work that may include (but not limited to):
    • Attendance Program
    • PTO Administration
    • New Hire Information and paperwork
    • Unemployment
    • FMLA/Leaves of Absence
    • Workers Compensation
  • Works with the HR Receptionist/Admin. to manage the proper maintenance of employee files, I-9s, and other documents as required by local, state and federal statutes.
  • Supports, develops and administers company-sponsored employee events.
  • Trainer for NEO, as needed
  • Assist with other HR related projects
  • Ensures proper PPE’s and Safety procedures are followed

 

Performs any other functions and duties assigned and necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of Praxis Packaging Solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology or related field strongly preferred.
  • 1-3 years of comprehensive Human Resources experience required, preferably in in a medium to large, fast-paced, manufacturing or industrial operation with a diverse workforce.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certifications are a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Superior people skills, including the demonstrated ability to navigate complex people issues and conflicts.
  • Ability to coach, develop and direct the day-to-day activities of others.
  • Strong computer skills required as well as prior experience using HRIS or talent management systems (ADP and Cornerstone preferred).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presenting to small or large groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain compliant Human Resources operations.

Bilingual fluency in Spanish, Vietnamese, Swahili, or Kinyarwanda is strongly preferred
