The Human Resource Generalist facilitates the human resource processes onsite in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. This role administers employee health and welfare plans and acts as liaison between employees and insurance providers. This position resolves benefits-related problems and ensures effective use of plans and positive employee relations. The Human Resource Generalist makes that certain plans are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations and that plan provisions are followed. This role provides human resource administrative support including record-keeping, file maintenance and HRIS entry.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with leadership to understand and facilitate company initiatives that pertain to human resources.
  • Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
  • Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Fairly and objectively answers employee requests and questions within the parameters of company policy or established compliance related guidelines.
  • Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.
  • Requests pre-employment documents such as background checks, drug screenings, and other job specific pre-hire documentation.
  • Reconciles benefits statements and conducts or assists with audits of payroll, benefits, or other HR benefits and programs.
  • Provides advice to management for corrective action plans, policy interpretation, and areas of federal or state compliance.
  • Assists with maintenance of corrective action plans and processing of terminations.
  • Assists with the preparation of the performance review process.
  • Handles recruitment and the interview process. Tracks the status of candidates in HRIS and responds with follow-up letters at the end of the recruiting process.
  • Schedules meetings and interviews as requested by the executive leadership or other supervisors.
  • Handles all office related responsibilities including maintenance of personnel files, the HRIS database, correspondence, scheduling and facilitating open enrollment or other employee related communication, etc.
  • Plans and facilitates ongoing training programs for staff and employees.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or related field and/or equivalent verifiable experience.
  • REQUIRED: At least three years’ related experience required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Walk thru of work areas to interact with employees.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Job Type: Full-time
