Job Summary

The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department, including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. Provide support to the HR team and works on special projects. Ensures compliance with applicable labor laws or regulations.

Experience & Education

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 3 years’ Human resources experience required
• Professional human resources certification preferred
• Thorough knowledge of local employment law required
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the Company
• High level of integrity and dependability required
• Proven ability to exercise sound judgment, making decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
• Absolute attention to detail
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist with human resource operations, including recruiting, selection, orientation, and training, with Management assistance.
• Ability to apply experience and knowledge in local Labor and Employment Law to advise Management.
• Maintain policies and procedures in recruitment, compensation, and benefits with Corporate HR guidance.
• Assists in compliance activities across the organization.
• Assists with employment agreements and collecting required new hire paperwork for payroll and HR records.
• Support, comply with, and participate in the HSSE program. Liaison for human resources and the health and safety/environmental department.
• Maintain compliance with recruitment and retention targets.
• Document HR processes/procedures.
• Assist with HR internal training program for staff.
• Provide general clerical and administrative support for the human resources team.
• Play an active role in formulating methods to improve employment policies, practices, and recommend changes to management as needed.
• Assist in the development and implementation of various HR programs, culture initiatives, and other HR related projects as assigned.
• Prepare/maintain all files: personnel, medical, retirement, training, contract, etc.
• Maintain HR and training records and compile reports from files and the HR database as needed.
• Work closely with the Finance and Accounting Team to provide payroll support as needed, ensuring that employee and employer contributions and payroll deductions are processed accurately and on time.
• Assist in administering employee benefits programs such as retirement plans, medical, dental, vision plans, life insurance plans, temporary disability programs, and wellness programs as needed.
• Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
• Assist with benefit enrollments, life change events, and terminations in all applicable benefit and retirement plans as needed.
• Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
• Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
• Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
• Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
• Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
• Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
• Assist with filing annual compliance reports such as EEO-1 report.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
