DescriptionJOB SUMMARY:
Runs the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including employee/labor relations, payroll administration support, and enforcing company policies and practices. Supports other HR functions as needed.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Develop professional relationships with all levels of team members to provide excellent HR consulting, compliance assurance and development.
- Investigate and resolve team member and labor relation issues. Investigate EEOC claims.
- Conduct investigations with departments, follow up on compliance issues, and provide support to departments for special projects as needed.
- Participate in resolution of issues in grievances, mediations, arbitration, administrative hearings and other forums as assigned.
- Coordinate Board of Review (BOR) program, review implementation of BOR recommendations and develop programs in conjunction with management to overcome consistent issues.
- Participates in the Exit Interview Process.
- Identify team member issues and create proactive plans with departments to resolve.
- Provides data and analysis on employee satisfaction and retention measures.
- Assists with other human resource programs including but not limited to leave of absence, training, performance and talent management, productivity, recognition, and engagement.
- Assists with payroll operations and serves as the payroll backup.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Responds to and interacts with federal, state and local agencies (EEOC, DOL, Unemployment) as needed.
- Adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies in an ethical manner.
- Maintains the electronic filing system to include receipt of documents, scanning, indexing and appropriate storage of paper documents.
- Maintains a current systematized set of records and confidential HR personnel and executive files.
- Receive and greet internal guests in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- At least one year of human resources experience is preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of and experience with employment laws and fair treatment policies.
- Labor relations experience is highly preferred.
- SHRM-CP a plus.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a self-starter and able to work independently. Must possess initiative, critical thinking skills, excellent communication skills, performance consulting, and facilitation skills. Must be proficient with a PC and Microsoft Office products to include Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and ability to multi-task required. Demonstrated success in the administration of the terms of a collective bargaining unit, handling grievances, mediations, and arbitration processes preferred. Professional appearance and team player required. Ability to uphold and demonstrate the highest level of integrity in all situations and recognize standards required by a regulated business
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time (minimum of four hours).
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency while performing tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Must be able to maneuver throughout all areas of the casino.
- Must be able to lift, carry and/or push a minimum of 20 lbs.
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, bend, twist, turn, push, pull, grasp objects and the manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment.
- Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondhand smoke, dust, loud noises and bright lights.
- Must be able to work varied shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.
