POSITION TITLE: HR Generalist

DEPARTMENT: General

REPORTS TO: Chief Administrative Officer

FLSA: Full-time, Non-Exempt

SALARY: $33.00 - $37.00, commensurate with experience and education

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the HR Generalist will coordinate human resources functions to support Alpha Project's mission, vision, values, and culture. This position serves as a liaison between management and employees regarding human resources-related matters, facilitates communication, and oversees ongoing HR-related activities. The HR Generalist will strive to create and maintain a fair, supportive, and positive environment for all Alpha Project employees. This includes preventing and resolving employment-related issues and promoting the success of all employees within Alpha Project.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Employee Relations & HR Support

  • Serve as a primary HR contact for employees and supervisors, providing guidance on policies, procedures, and employee relations matters.
  • Address employee grievances, assist with employee investigations, and support conflict resolution.
  • Implementing appropriate disciplinary actions for employees who violate rules and regulations.
  • Promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture.

Employee Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Facilitate onboarding/offboarding, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare new hire documentation.
  • Process employee separations and exit documentation.
  • Conduct exit interviews, when appropriate.

Compliance & Policy Administration

  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, etc.)
  • Support HR reporting and audits, as needed.
  • Maintain employee physical and digital files and HRIS data accurately and confidentially.

Benefits, & HR Operations

  • Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics such as leaves of absence, benefits, compensation, and employee issues.
  • Maintain HRIS (iSolved) employee data, personnel files, and HR documentation.
  • Assist in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
  • Collaborating with other members of the HR department to develop and implement strategies that support the Company's goals and objectives.
  • Processes unemployment claims and employment verification requests.
  • Completes annual regulatory compliance filings.
  • Support payroll processes, timekeeping, attendance tracking, and leave administration.

  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, lifting, and stooping.
  • The employee may lift and move up to 25 pounds, and standing and walking are routine elements of the position.

  • Occasional exposure to program sites, including homeless shelters and service locations, may be required in support of HR operations.

Experience, Education, and Certification

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, or applicable discipline.
  • Relevant certificate program (HRCI, PHRca, APHR, SPHR, SHRM, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP).
  • 3-7+ years of experience as an HR professional, preferably in a generalist role.
  • Working knowledge of HR practices, employment law, and employee relations processes.
  • Experience with onboarding, benefits administration, and HR Recordkeeping.
  • Experience with Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), and payroll software.

EQUIPMENT AND APPLICATIONS

  • A firm understanding of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams, is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of all standard office equipment.
