We are seeking a motivated Entry Level HR Generalist to support our expanding workforce and contribute to a positive, organized HR function.

Position Summary

The HR Generalist I is a role responsible for supporting day-to-day HR operations, recruiting, onboarding, employee support, and routine compliance tasks. This hands-on position is ideal for someone early in their HR career who is organized, customer-focused, and eager to expand their HR knowledge. The role works closely with the HR Manager and collaborates with the Director of Operations, CFO, and employees across other departments and locations. This position offers significant growth opportunities in recruiting, benefits administration, employee relations, and HR compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Support & HR Administration

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee and manager questions.
  • Assist with processing HR documents such as new hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation.
  • Support employee relations by gathering information and escalating issues as needed.
  • Assist with HR special projects

Recruiting & Onboarding

  • Assist with posting job openings, reviewing applicants, and conducting phone screens with candidates.
  • Support new-hire processing, background checks, and onboarding documentation.
  • Participate in employee orientation.
  • Assist with job fairs and recruiting events.

Benefits & Leave Administration

  • Support employees with basic benefit questions and direct them to resources.
  • Maintain benefit records including health, dental, disability, retirement, vacation, and sick leave.
  • Assist with FMLA, workers' compensation, and short-term disability documentation.
  • Support wage surveys and benefits-related reporting.

HR Compliance & Reporting

  • Assist with compliance activities including I-9 audits, file maintenance, DOT files, and safety documentation.
  • Help prepare HR reports and support government-required documentation.

Employee Engagement & Communication

  • Support initiatives that strengthen culture and engagement.
  • Participate in shop visits and employee engagement activities.
  • Assist with HR communications

Offboarding

  • Assist with scheduling exit interviews.
  • Support completion of final documentation and checklist items.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in HR, Business Admin., or related field, or equivalent HR experience.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related field.
  • Experience with HRIS or applicant tracking systems.
  • Basic understanding of employment laws (FMLA, ADA, FLSA).
  • SHRM-CP or PHR (or willingness to pursue).

Work Schedule

  • Monday–Friday
  • Approximately 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • On-site position

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods.
