The HR Generalist I supports a wide range of cross-functional human resources activities including talent acquisition, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, and employee engagement. This position works closely with employees, managers, outside vendors, and consultants to implement HR policies, programs, and initiatives. The HR Generalist I operates under the supervision of the HR Manager but is expected to handle day-to-day HR functions with independence and discretion. As directed, this position will also support other departments and managers to meet the immediate needs of the firm. This person will reflect and promote SESI’s values of professionalism, collaboration, and integrity. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned

Talent Acquisition & Employer Branding: 

  • Support the full-cycle recruitment process by posting job advertisements, sourcing candidates, and screening applications.
  • Prepare and distribute offer letters, announcements, and other employee communications.
  • Represent the company at college job fairs and recruiting events.
  • Support employer branding initiatives through internal and external events and candidate engagement. 

Onboarding & Employee Experience:

  • Coordinate and conduct new hire onboarding, orientation, surveys, and exit interviews.
  • Prepare and distribute offer letters, announcements, and other employee communications. 
  • Submit background checks and motor vehicle reports for new hires.

HR Administration & Compliance:

  • Process new hires, terminations, and employee changes in the HRIS.
  • Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with applicable employment laws, including EEO
  • Run monthly HR reports and update Excel files as needed.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all employees and company information. 

 Performance & Employee Relations:

  • Assist with performance review preparation, tracking, and follow-up.
  • Provide guidance to employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, and benefits.
  • Support the creation of employee surveys to gather feedback on communications.
  • Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Conduct benefit administration and maintain accurate benefit records. 

Special Projects & Support:

  • Participate in HR-related special projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Assist with internal and external events that support both HR and company-wide objectives.
  • Partner with managers and other departments to support operational needs as they arise.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience  

Bachelor’s degree in Human resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field preferred.

Two years or more of experience in a related field. 

Experience with HRIS systems, benefits administration is preferred 

Recruiting/talent acquisition or onboarding experience is strongly preferred. 

Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to handle confidential information with discretion. 

Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations  

Valid Driver’s License and possess reliable transportation.

 Work Environment  

Due to the collaborative nature of this role, it is important that this team member’s regular working schedule aligns with the company’s and fall within 8AM-5:30PM. There may be times where tasks fall on nights/ weekends.

This position will work in a typical office environment, mostly located indoor with windows. The office contains office equipment resulting in equipment noiseThis position will be working in a shared office space with other colleagues and may experience frequent interruptions, conversations, or other background noise.  

Compensation: $50,000-$70,000
