Position Overview
The Human Resource Generalist II provides a wide variety of both complex and routine responsibilities. This position ensures all facets of onboarding new employees runs successfully throughout the company and is responsible for ensuring all plans, policies, and programs for the overall Human Resource function are in compliance.
Essential Job Functions
- Administers new employee orientation program to ensure employees gain an understanding of the company’s mission, vision, and values
- Administers new hire, engagement, pulse, and exit surveys to ensure overall engagement of the organization and provides recommendations
- Prepares and coordinates articles/content for employee communication site
- Partners with Director of Human Resources (HR) as an internal consultant to all levels of management in order to resolve employee relations issues, including disciplinary actions, employee conflicts, and investigations
- Coordinates service anniversary reward program which includes vendor relationship and coordination of employee awards
- Provides support and guidance to managers in the performance development program by utilizing the Human Resource Information System (HRIS)
- Administers corporate volunteer program which includes tracking of paid volunteer hours, coordinating Volunteer Week, and assisting with questions about the program
- Maintains Employee Handbook and Operation and Procedures Manual to ensure fair employment standards are maintained
- Chairs the Pekin Employee Activities Committee (PEAC) to plan and promote extracurricular activities for employees to enhance and sustain employee morale
- Files annual EEO-1 report utilizing HRIS system
- Processes and manages the leave of absence program including FMLA, ADA, STD, and LTD, acting as a subject matter expert by providing managers and employees direction on leave eligibility to ensure compliance
- Coordinates the company’s workers’ compensation program by following established policies, rules, and regulations
- Processes and provides timely notification and communication to employees, supervisors, and insurance carrier regarding workers’ compensation claims
- Designs, implements, and monitors wellness program that promotes healthy living throughout the organization
- Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting the Human Resources function (FMLA, STD, ADA, LTD), monitors exposure of the company, and prepares the information requested or required for compliance
- Evaluates, recommends, and implements improvements to Human Resources processes and procedures
- Communicates and demonstrates support for department decisions
- Maintains awareness of laws, standards, legislation, and trends that may affect organizational Human Resource practice
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations
- Establishes one’s self as a credible and trustworthy source for employees to voice concerns
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, human resources, or related field
- Typically requires 5+ years of related job experience
Preferred or Specialized
- Prior experience in human resources
Certifications & Licenses
- Human Resources certification is preferred, such as Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Society for Human Resource Management – Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), and/or Society for Human Resource Management – Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP)

Salary Range
$70,000 to $84,000 per year
- This range is based on the expected level of experience and skills for this position. Final compensation will depend on individual qualifications.
