R. J. Corman Railroad Group is seeking an HR Generalist to join our People Services team in Nicholasville, KY.
Accountability: The HR Generalist plays a key role in supporting day-to-day HR operations. This position is hands-on and service-oriented with responsibilities spanning HR administrative work, recruiting support, and cross-training across core HR functions. The HR Generalist regularly interacts with candidates, employees, and leaders at all levels, helping ensure a positive and consistent employee experience. The HR Generalist must be organized, adaptable, and able to balance administrative work with people-focused interactions.
Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day administrative support for People Services department, ensuring accuracy, organization, and confidentiality.
- Manage the HR inbox and respond to routine employee and manager inquiries in a timely, professional manner.
- Assist with onboarding processes, including new hire paperwork, system entry, and coordination of orientation activities.
- Support compliance efforts such as I-9 audits, file audits, policy updates, and learning management system (LMS) tracking.
- Prepare, track, and compile HR reports and metrics.
- Maintain accurate data within HRIS, ATS, and related systems.
- Support ad hoc reporting and data requests for People Services and leadership.
- Coordinate recruiting activities for hourly and/or professional roles, include job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, and offer letter preparation.
- Crosstrain across multiple People Services functions to provide backup support and ensure continuity of operations.
- Partner with team members to support ongoing departmental initiatives, process improvements, and special projects.
- Build effective working relationships with employees, leaders, and stakeholders.
Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience:
- 1-3+ years of experience in HR, recruiting, or administrative support.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
- Experience working with HRIS and ATS (UKG a plus)
- General knowledge of HR policies, practices, and employment laws (federal, state, and local)
- Experience preparing reports or working with HR data
Physical Requirements:
- Limited lifting, up to 20 pounds for office materials and equipment
- Regular use of computers and standard office equipment requiring hand and finger dexterity
Environmental Conditions: Performs duties in an inside administrative office environment.
Major or Unusual Problems: Must carry out responsibilities in a fast-paced customer-focused environment. Accuracy, attention to detail, and responsiveness are critical to supporting the growing needs of the organization.
