The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of functions to support the City, focusing on specific areas like recruitment, benefits administration, employee relations, and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Managing the full-cycle recruitment process, including posting job openings, screening resumes, conducting interviews, performing background/reference checks, and facilitating new employee orientation
- Administering employee benefit plans (health, life insurance, retirement)
- Acting as a liaison between employees and management to address issues, mediate disputes, and help resolve workplace grievances
- Ensuring all HR functions comply with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations, and assisting with the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures
- Assisting in identifying training needs, developing materials, and coordinating or conducting training sessions and performance review processes
- Maintaining accurate and confidential employee records and data within Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and databases
- Payroll and related functions
- Other tasks as assigned
