  • Serves as Custodian of Records; Maintains County employee records and other Human Resources records in compliance with the State of Texas Retention Schedule; Ensures the implementation of proper disposal of records in accordance with retention guidelines
  • Reviews, provides and responds to open records requests, subpoenas and Brady Requests for information on behalf of the HR department; Provide necessary documents to County Attorney or District Attorney’s Office.
  • Responsible for completion of the Employment Verification process for internal/external requestors
  • Administers the County’s retirement plan and provide guidance to prospective retirees through individual meetings and informational seminars to support understanding of program benefits and processes
  • Responsible for retirement plan enrollments and terminations
  • Conducts weekly orientation sessions for new employees to facilitate onboarding and provide an overview of organizational policies and procedures
  • Prepares, edits and distributes employee newsletter
  • Coordinates employee discount program; Works with vendors and maintains current list of employee and retiree discounts.
  • Assists with other special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 3 years prior experience in HR related field
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Proficient in the use of computers and software, including  Microsoft Office
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, both orally and written
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and make independent decisions based on established standards and procedures
  • Ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.

STARTING SALARY: $25.71 - $32.14 hourly based on qualifications

CLOSING DATE: Upon filling position
