POSITION TITLE:HR Specialist II (1st Shift)
SECTION/DEPARTMENT: Human Resources & General Affairs
REPORTS TO: HR Manager
LOCATION: Nashville Customer Service Center
BASIC PURPOSE: We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented HR Specialist to lead the implementation and maintenance of our continuous improvement and our employee safety and wellness programs. This role is critical in ensuring regulatory compliance, fostering a culture of safety, and supporting employee development through effective training and wellness initiatives. This role is responsible for maintaining workplace standards including both SWS and SEWS programs
BASIC POSITION DUTIES:
- Implement and maintain SWS and SEWS safety programs.
- Revise safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct accident and near-miss investigations, identify root causes, and coordinate cross-functional countermeasures.
- Perform daily safety patrols and coordinate site management safety inspections.
- Communicate safety findings and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
- Training & Development.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive training records to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Deliver engaging oral and written training sessions for both hourly and salaried employees.
- Assist supervisors and managers in identifying training needs and scheduling required refresher courses.
- Maintain training materials, master training lists, and the overall training plan.
- Employee Engagement & Continuous Improvement.
- Promote and manage the Continuous Improvement Activities (CIA) and Kaizen suggestion programs.
- Enter CIA submissions into the database and assist departments with implementation follow-up.
- Oversee and manage the plant’s wellness program to support employee health and well-being.
- Maintain inventory of PPE and first aid supplies; create requisitions as needed.
- Conduct regular safety and training audits to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Administrative Support.
- Perform additional HR administrative duties as assigned.
- Support cross-functional teams and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business with HR focus or Engineering, 3 to 7 years progressive professional experience in the fields of safety, with training experience.
- Ability to manage projects, collect data, and track progress.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
- Excellent computer, analytical, written and verbal communication skills including public speaking experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and training record systems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
- Ability to travel occasionally as required.
