The HR Specialist - Talent Acquisition position is a fast-paced role that requires strong organizational and prioritization skills, the ability to quickly adjust and re-prioritize tasks when daily work is interrupted, and strong communication skills to effectively partner with candidates, hiring managers, and internal stakeholders.
This role is responsible for managing the full-cycle recruitment process for faculty, staff and student worker positions. This includes partnering with hiring managers to assess workforce needs; developing and posting job requisitions; sourcing candidates through multiple channels; screening applications, coordinating and participating and facilitating interviews, extending and negotiating offers in accordance with established guidelines; assisting with the preparation and completion of new-hire paperwork and attend career fairs to promote BHC.
The HR Specialist also oversees background checks, credential verification, and other pre-employment requirements, ensuring all hiring steps are completed accurately and in a timely manner. This role ensures a smooth and positive onboarding experience by coordinating pre-employment appointments, supporting orientation sessions, and serving as a primary point of contact for new hires and hiring managers throughout the hiring and onboarding process.
Additionally, the HR Specialist maintains compliance with accurate recruitment records, tracks recruitment metrics, ensures compliance with applicable employment laws, organizational policies, and Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs), and contributes to continuous improvement of recruitment processes. Close collaboration with the hiring managers and HR partners is essential to ensure consistent, equitable, and compliant hiring practices aligned with departmental and organizational goals.
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Manages Full Cycle Recruitment, the Pre-Employment and Pre-Onboarding processes.
2. Rotates to BHC East Campus for recruitment purposes, directed by the HR Director.
3. Tracks staffing needs and communicates effectively and efficiently with candidates and Hiring Managers throughout the recruitment process.
4. Identifies recruitment opportunities for advertising and partners internally with BHC Marketing Department.
5. Attend local career fairs to promote BHC as a Great Place to Work.
6. Responsible for re-grading new and existing job descriptions.
7. Responsible for New Hire and Rehire data entry with HRIS.
8. Assists with the Dual Credit process.
9. Responsible for tracking recruitment related expenses and submitting necessary documentation/disbursement forms
10. Maintain and post College Org Chart on a quarterly basis.
11. Manages the MVR annual process.
12. Manages the Service Award Program.
13. Able to lead, implement and execute strategic recruitment goals in a timely manner.
14. Preps recruitment material and KPI metrics for Executive Team, Board of Trustees, and others as requested.
15. Backup for FLAC (Faculty Load & Compensation).
16. Participate and provide necessary recruitment data for audit purposes.
17. Responsible for the accurate retention of new hire transcripts in compliance with ICCB requirement.
18. Safeguards confidential oral and written personnel information in compliance with HIPAA, EEOC, ADA, FLSA, FMLA, and other applicable federal and state laws and guidelines; sends confidential information and documents, both paper and electronic, by secure means at all times.
19. Knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA), employee handbooks, state and federal guidelines and recruitment and onboarding policies and procedures.
DESCRIPTION OF OTHER DUTIES:
1. Assists other HR staff as needed.
2. Assists the Director of Human Resources with developing and updating recruitment and talent acquisition-related policies and procedures.
3. Partners with employees and supervisory staff regarding employment matters and other work-related matters as needed.
4. Performs other HR job-related duties as assigned.
