Summary

Are you looking to work a part-time job in a fun and professional environment? Do you have an interest in the Human Resources profession and value confidentiality? If the answer is yes, then look no further. This newly created role within the HR Team will work 25 hours a week, Monday - Friday from 9:00am - 2:00pm.

Under the direction of the Human Resources Generalist the Human Resources Assistant is responsible for providing a wide variety of administrative and clerical support to Human Resources. This position deals with confidential information and strict adherence to all policies and procedures is required.

Qualifications

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent with one (1) to two (2) years of related experience. Basic understanding and knowledge of human resources practices within the workplace is preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and maintain a positive and team-oriented attitude. Possess a high degree of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality. Must have excellent problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to be flexible, multi-task, and meet deadlines. Working knowledge of human resources Software and Microsoft Office software is preferred. CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification required within 90 days of employment.


Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of human services functions and duties.
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to human resources.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date HR files, records, and documentation in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, as well as records retention guidelines.
  • Assist with maintaining the database of job descriptions; perform updates as requested.
  • Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and stored appropriately.
  • Process and store records for personnel transactions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations.
  • Assist in distributing, maintaining, and tracking District training.
  • Assist with coordinating HR projects (meetings, trainings, surveys, etc.).
  • Assist in responding to employee requests regarding HR issues, policies, and procedures.
  • Respond to employee's questions and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assists with new hire onboarding processes.
  • Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, and holiday parties.
  • Attend pertinent departmental/District meetings and in-house training sessions.
  • Conduct self according to the policies and procedures as established by the District.
  • Participate in District safety and training programs to ensure that work performed, and services provided are implemented in a safe manner.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned.
