The Opportunity:

Homer Electric Association (HEA) is a member-owned electric utility serving the central and southern areas of the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska! We are excited to be seeking a Human Resources Assistant to join our team at our Homer, Alaska location. This position truly touches every aspect of Human Resources (HR) including retirement, benefits, reporting, payroll, and training. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Research, gather, organize and prepare historical, compliance, related and regulatory data as assigned.
  • Make interview, travel, training event and meeting arrangements. Also maintains a schedule on computer calendar and takes notes at various meetings as assigned.
  • Assist employees with updating employment documents as may be required for the processing of employment file or payroll data changes.
  • Maintain department records and filing systems for both physical and electronic files. May require extended periods of filing and data entry.
  • Provide primary backup and support for the HR Generalist when absent or as otherwise required for the completion of the department's duties. Provides support to the HR & Administrative Services Manager as requested and acts as secondary backup in the absence of the HR & Administrative Services manager and the HR Generalist.

What makes you a good fit:

  • The ability to coordinate with outside agencies, internal employees and management staff with the utmost confidentiality.
  • Associate's degree with emphasis in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field; in lieu of the degree requirement, an additional four years of applicable experience may replace the degree requirement.
  • Minimum of three years of human resources or related administrative experience, with demonstrated responsibility for supporting multiple HR functions. Experience in a shared services or regulated environment preferred.
  • Must submit a valid Alaska Driver's license within 90 days of hire date, and maintain a good driving record
