What You Will Do:

  • Identify, develop and implement human resources-related needs for full cycle HR support from recruitment, onboarding, engagement, learning, development and departure.

  • Provide input on workforce and succession planning as well as plans business unit restructuring.

  • Collaborate with colleagues in the human resources department to develop policies, programs, and solutions.

  • Identify, develop, and maintain morale, workplace relationships, productivity and employee retention programs.

  • Assists with the new hire progress by conducting pulse checks and new hire 30/60/90 check-ins.

  • Identifies, sources/develops, and delivers on-site training, including analyzing data trends and metrics to assist the organization in making informed business decisions.

  • Serves as the liaison for benefit plans and annual meetings including hands on assistance with open enrollment.

  • Builds relationships  with managers regularly meets with managers to discuss departmental needs.

  • Mediate and resolve employee relations issues; conduct thorough and objective investigations when necessary with people centric recommendations

  • Ensure and support regulatory compliance with legal requirements pertinent to the day-to-day management of employees and unions; collaborate with the legal department when necessary

  • Handles routine labor relations and general employee relations inquiries related to policies, procedures, and bargaining agreements; refers complex matters to appropriate management staff.

  • Serves as the initial contact and liaison for intake and assessment of employee complaints.

  • Conducts initial interviews and gathers information for employee relations matters such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other concerns ensuring proper documentation, follow up and close out of all inquiries.

  • Assists with recordkeeping related to hiring, termination, leave, transfer, and promotion particularly as related to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), affirmative action, and diversity initiatives.

  • Collects information and data to assess cost and policy implications of negotiations and disputes. This may include management and union proposals, pay scales and wages, benefits, working conditions, and other mitigating circumstances.

  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to EEO, affirmative action, collective bargaining, unions, labor relations, and human resources.

  • Assists with preparation of documents and records required for contract negotiations, meetings, and negotiations with employee and labor organizations.

  • As needed, assist with recruitment, including but not limited to conducting phone interviews and follow up keeping the acquisition funnel progressing.

  • Builds a foundation of trust with operational leaders providing insight and solutions aligned to business objectives.

  • Own the full employee lifecycle in a high volume hiring environment from sourcing and onboarding to engagement, retention and offboarding.

  • Lead inquiries with objectivity and a people first approach; ensure timeline and well documented resolution of issues.

  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local laws and union regulations.

  • Assist with contract preparations, audit and documentation for union negotiation and HR policies.

  • Input, monitor and analyze HR metrics and trends to identify risk, areas of improvement and opportunities for proactive intervention/support.

  • Provide HR reporting and insights to guide leadership decision making.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience resolving complex employee and labor relations issues.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business, or related field required.
  • At least three years of professional human resource administration required with experience in labor relations preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certified an asset.
  • Current, in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to human resources and employee management, including workers’ compensation, union relations, and federal and state employment laws.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
