What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, development, performance management, benefits administration, leaves, and transitions.
  • Partnering with leaders on hiring, employee relations, career paths, team needs, organizational changes, and day‑to‑day people challenges.
  • Owning key HR operations, including weekly payroll processing, maintaining accurate employee data, and ensuring compliance with employment and wage laws.

    Summary:

    Heritage Family Credit Union is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to support our employees and leaders across the full employee experience. This role is hands-on and highly collaborative, combining day-to-day HR operations with strategic partnership to ensure our people systems, processes, and experiences support the business and our member-focused mission.

    This role is one of three HR Business Partners, who together share responsibility for HR operations, payroll processing, recruiting, and people support across the credit union.

    Our HRBPs don’t sit on the sidelines. They are embedded in the business, helping leaders navigate day-to-day people challenges while also improving systems, tools, and experiences over time. You’ll balance hands-on support with big-picture thinking, ensuring our people practices are aligned with our values, strategy, and member-focused mission.

    Essential Functions:

    Employee Lifecycle Support

    • Serve as the primary HR point of contact for employees and leaders in assigned departments.
    • Support employees through all stages of employment: onboarding, development, performance, leaves, and transitions.
    • Own day-to-day benefits administration and act as a trusted point of contact for employee questions, translating benefits into a clear and positive employee experience.
    • Coach managers on performance management, feedback, documentation, and employee development. Partner with the training team to support employee and leader growth.
    • Support employee relations matters with professionalism, consistency, and care.
    • Ensure HR policies and practices are applied fairly and consistently. 

    Recruiting & Hiring Support

    • Manage and support full-cycle recruiting for assigned departments, from job posting through offer.
    • Partner with hiring managers to clarify role needs, timelines, and candidate profiles.
    • Coordinate interviews, reference checks, and offer processes.
    • Support onboarding to ensure a smooth transition from candidate to employee. 

    HR Business Partnering & Advisory Work

    • Build strong working relationships with leaders to understand business goals and team needs.
    • Provide practical guidance on employee career paths, role clarity, and team dynamics.
    • Help leaders navigate change, growth, and organizational shifts.
    • Use employee data and feedback to inform recommendations and improvements. 

    Payroll & HR Operations

    • Process weekly payroll accurately and on time as part of a shared payroll team.
    • Maintain employee data changes related to hires, promotions, transfers, leaves, and terminations.
    • Ensure payroll, timekeeping, and HR systems are accurate, compliant, and well-documented.
    • Partner with Finance to resolve payroll questions, audits, and reconciliations.
    • Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment and wage laws. 

    HR as a Service & Product Function

    • Approach HR programs (onboarding, performance management, compensation, engagement) as products that should be clear, useful, and continuously improved.
    • Identify opportunities to simplify processes and improve the employee and manager experience.
    • Partner with the HR team to define service standards and ensure timely, high-quality support.
    • Collect feedback and recommend improvements to HR tools, workflows, and communications.
    • Ensure adherence to BSA (Bank Secrecy Act) and risk compliance standards in all job responsibilities, maintaining the organization's regulatory integrity and mitigating potential risks.

    Qualifications:

    Experience & Skills:

    ·         3-5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, or relevant similar experience.

    ·         Experience managing or supporting full-cycle recruiting.

    ·         Strong knowledge of employee relations and performance management.

    ·         Proven ability to work strategically while also operating in a small hands-on department

    ·         Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills

    ·         Strong experience with HR technology stack and comfort using data to inform decisions

    ·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    ·         Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail

    ·         Ability to manage multiple priorities and support several teams at once.

    ·         Experience in a service-oriented, regulated, or mission-driven environment is a plus.

    ·         Detail-oriented and organized, especially with payroll and employee data.

    ·         Approachable, clear, and calm in sensitive situations.

    ·         Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

    ·         Curious about how the business operates and how HR can support it.

    ·         Focused on practical solutions and continuous improvement. 

    Physical Requirements:

    ·         Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. 

    Work Environment:

    ·         Professional banking environment.

    ·         Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in a climate-controlled shared work area.

    ·         This role can be hybrid in our Rutland office and in a home office.
