Essential Job Functions

  • Builds collaborative and productive working relationships with managers and employees to enhance workforce performance by supporting employee development;
  • Supports the employee relations functions with a focus on labor relations, for represented employees and leaders, providing coaching to all levels of the organization;
  • Conducts investigations of workplace complaints and allegations, for represented staff, including, but not limited to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, hostile work environment and policy violations; provides written documentation for findings and recommends corrective action, as needed.
  • Proactively assesses team and manager development needs, makes recommendations, and implements appropriate solutions;
  • Partners with HR colleagues to support data collection and reporting based on business needs; identifies trends in employee relations, talent acquisition, benefits and wellness, and learning and development to help inform decisions and improve processes to minimize reactive work;
  • Conducts exit interviews and analyzes the data and trends for feedback or improvement;
  • Participates in projects as an integral member of the extended HR division and influences others across the organization; supports strategic HR initiatives, and serves as a consultant on general HR issues; and,
  • Supports organizational change management and culture development initiatives that support the business in its innovation and growth objectives.
  • Gathers former employee information to complete initial requests for unemployment claims and requests for appeals, participates in hearings;
  • Participates in panel interviews, as needed.
  • Helps design and facilitate training based on data analysis;
  • Leads with integrity, respect, high personal standards and builds personal credibility;
  • Regular, predictable and punctual attendance required; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and three (3) years' experience in human resources. Experience working in or having exposure to a union environment is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP or sHRBP certification preferred.
