Position Overview

As an HR Business Partner, you'll be responsible for a comprehensive range of HR functions, including hiring, talent management, compensation, benefits, HRIS, and legal compliance. You will maintain a highly visible presence on the production floor, acting as a trusted liaison between employees and management to foster an open and positive site culture consistent with Nelson Miller Group values. This role is crucial in ensuring policy awareness, effectively managing employee relations, and supporting the implementation of company-wide initiatives.


Key Responsibilities


Tactical Business Partnering

  • Employee Relations: Manage and resolve site employee relations issues through thorough and objective investigations.  Advise and counsel employees and managers on HR policies and best practices.
  • Performance Support: Facilitate the annual review and goal-setting process, providing day-to-day coaching and counseling to line management.
  • Payroll: Assist with the payroll process, including reviewing timesheets, adjustments, reports, reconciling, for bi-weekly processing.
  • Culture & Engagement: Champion NMG’s values at the local level to foster high morale and a supportive work environment.
  • Talent Development: Partner with senior HR leadership to identify site training needs and conduct engaging sessions to promote internal growth.
  • HR Analytics: Gather and analyze site-specific data to support HR projects and recommend improvements to process/procedures. Track and analyze key HR metrics. Review/audit employee data for accuracy in HRIS and other related systems.
  • Handle other duties as assigned to support HR operations and initiatives.

Site HR Operations

  • Full-Cycle Recruitment: Manage the hiring process for the Wausau facility, including job postings, screening, interview coordination, candidate selection, and collaborating with managers to understand required skills and facilitating the selection      of top talent.
  • Onboarding & Training: Implement new hire orientation and track compliance for all site-specific mandatory training. 
  • Benefits & Policy Administration: Address employee inquiries regarding benefits and support annual open enrollment / benefit-related activities.
  • LOA: Assist employees with leave of Absence requests by providing necessary paperwork, reviewing submissions, and approving leave in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Compliance & Records: Maintain knowledge of federal and state employment laws to ensure the facility meets all regulatory requirements.
  • HRIS Support: Execute routine tasks within the HRIS (e.g., Paylocity) to maintain accurate employee data and automate local HR processes.
  • Employee Support: Handle employment-related inquiries and provide clear interpretation of HR policies for both supervisors and staff.
  • Facilitate Offboarding Process: Completing exit documentation, final payroll process, coordinating with IT and Facilities to deactivate employee access.
Requirements

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.


Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in an exempt-level Human Resources position.

  • Proven experience in recruiting, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or high-technology environment is highly desirable.

Skills: Strong knowledge of Federal & State regulations (Wage & Hour, LOAs, WC, etc.).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with HRIS systems such as Paylocity.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.

Certifications: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP is a plus.


Travel: Ability to occasionally travel to other sites or facilities as needed
