Summary:

The People Services Business Partner (BP) is a trusted advisor and thought partner to the DSQs, Principals, Deans, and Managers. BP’s provide coaching, assess people-related needs of assigned schools, and partner with leaders to align people strategies with business goals. Collaborates with People Services COEs as needed to drive engagement, workforce planning (staffing), culture work, and retention strategies. Leads projects, initiatives, and/or workgroups to advance organizational goals, talent development strategies, and change management. Assists leaders with assessing situations and connecting them with the correct resources at the Service Center.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to school leaders, aligning people's strategies with organizational goals. May be the point of contact for all things People Services. Will need to triage situations and engage the correct COE as needed.
  • Provides exceptional customer service, works to identify people’s needs in assigned schools, and partner/collaborates with the People Services COE’s to create, develop and deliver programs that address needs.
  • Effectively function as a change champion and assist in rolling out changes/initiatives as needed.
  • Partner with leaders to address staffing, employee engagement, retention and performance needs while driving solutions that improve outcomes for students and staff.
  • Understand the pulse of each school as well as the organization as a whole. Partners with leaders to assess metrics and recommend strategies. Leverages data to identify trends, provide actionable insights, influence decision making, and help make informed decisions.
  • Understand the talent landscape at each location and provide guidance on preparing and pipelining talent for upcoming vacancies or evolving school needs
  • Assist leaders in Workforce planning, including staffing, position eliminations, position management, and creating new positions.
  • Functions as a resource to other departments/teams/COEs as it relates to assigned schools. 
  • Assist in conflict resolution conversations.
  • Provides leaders with resources and guidance to coach and support their direct reports, including performance evaluations, 9 Box placements, etc.
  • Train and develop leaders on people's practice that fall within the scope of a business partner.
  • Looks for ways to improve human resources processes through researching new and upcoming trends, practices, laws, and policies.
  • Additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • At least 2+ years of experience in a Human Resources Role. HR Generalist experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or business management area of study.
  • Demonstrated ability to have a deep understanding of people's practices and regulations and how to apply strategies that achieve the right outcome.
  • High emotional intelligence is required. Must be resilient and adaptable to changing work environments, remain calm in trying situations, and navigate complex situations.  
  • Ability to develop relationships and establish trust.
  • Ability to assess data/trends and develop, monitor, and measure strategies. Ability to pivot quickly if needed.
  • Must be organized and able to prioritize and manage a wide variety of tasks at any given time while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to write documents with minimal need for editing.
  • Proficient use of HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to travel 10% - 20% of the time. May be more based on needs of organization.
  • Up to date on employee laws and trends.


This is an in-person position at our NHA Service Center located at 3850 Broadmoor Ave., Grand Rapids, MI.
