Role Overview

 

Human Resource Business Partner – Government Segment – East Coast, Mid-Atlantic or Oceanside, CA

 

Sodexo Government is seeking a qualified Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) for our North American portfolio.  We are a federal contractor within Sodexo and have a business portfolio of approximately $450 million in revenue and our star status client portfolio includes the U.S. Marine Corps, Air Force, Intelligence business and Federal & State Government locations throughout the United States.  We have a management population of roughly 600 of which the HRBP will be responsible for approximately 500 on-site team members for workforce planningtalent development, labor relations, and a strong business acumen to bring creative solutions to operational challenges that may go beyond traditional scope of human resources. 

 

Majority of our current business and future growth is on the East Coast, ideal candidate will be in the Mid-Atlantic (Northern VA – Eastern PA) Travel could be up to 30% - local, overnight, drive/air.  Position will have direct supervision of 5 in-unit HR managers (dotted line to the DMs/GMs)

 

This position is a great opportunity for someone who has demonstrated success in a current business partner role to step over to a role that provides them the visibility to the greater organization at the region and global levels.  Reporting to a VP, Human Resources, there will be opportunities to be involved and /or a part of projects/initiatives at the NORAM level deputized by the VPHR. To that end, the successful candidate will possess the ability to communicate (both written & verbal), speak to strategy, along with presenting and collaborating at higher levels and across the organization.  The ideal candidate will have the ability to provide solutions leveraging resources, innovation and engaging themselves when/where necessary.   

 

The HRBP is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The successful HRBP acts as an employee champion and change agent. The role assesses and anticipates HR-related needs and mitigates risk. Communicating needs pro-actively with our HR department and business management, the HRBP seeks to develop integrated solutions. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization.

What You'll Do

  • Maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business segment, financial position, its culture and its competition, etc.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics to develop solutions, where data may be useful
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Identifies training needs for business units and individuals
  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success.
