Madison College is seeking an experienced and collaborative Human Resources Business Partner to join our Human Resources team. This role partners closely with college leadership to provide strategic HR guidance, with a strong focus on employee relations, performance management, and organizational effectiveness. The HR Business Partner serves as a trusted advisor helping leaders navigate sensitive personnel situations, interpret policies, and make consistent, thoughtful decisions that support both employees and the organization.
In this role, the HR Business Partner works proactively with managers and departments to address workplace concerns, coach leaders through challenging situations, and implement HR practices that support employee engagement, accountability, and compliance. Through strong partnerships, thoughtful problem solving, and a commitment to equity and professionalism, this position helps strengthen workplace culture and advance the college’s mission and strategic priorities.
Schedule: This is a full-time, salaried position. Work hours typically occur during standard daytime business hours, with scheduling determined in collaboration with the manager. This position is located at our Truax Campus. It offers the potential to work remotely 1 day a week and ad hoc as needed. Remote work is subject to change in accordance with Madison College policy.

Accountabilities:
Partners with college leadership to provide strategic HR guidance that supports workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and alignment with institutional priorities.
Advises and coaches managers on complex employee relations matters, including performance management, conflict resolution, disciplinary processes, workplace concerns, and policy interpretation.
Investigates and responds to employee relations issues, applying sound judgment and ensuring fair, consistent, and compliant resolution of workplace concerns.
Collaborates with HR colleagues across talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, and other functional areas to develop coordinated HR solutions that support employees and departments.
Interprets and ensures compliance with employment laws, labor agreements, and college policies, serving as a resource to leaders on risk mitigation and best practices.
Analyzes HR data and trends to identify opportunities to improve workplace practices, strengthen employee engagement, and support equitable outcomes.
Promotes a positive and inclusive workplace culture by supporting leadership development, employee engagement initiatives, and continuous improvement of HR practices.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations with the ability to apply them appropriately in workplace situations.
Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and employment regulations and translate them into practical guidance for leaders.
Skill in managing complex employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, performance management, disciplinary processes, and workplace investigations, using professionalism, fairness, and a solutions-focused approach.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential employee matters.
Ability to navigate complex organizational environments and work effectively with multiple stakeholders to address workplace issues.
Ability to balance multiple priorities, manage competing demands, and respond effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's degree (or Associate's AND equivalent additional relevant work experience)
Experience:
7+ years of relevant, progressive, professional work experience
