Description

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as the primary HR liaison for Husson Universities Division of Online and Distance Education and the School of Professional Studies. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day HR functions of the Online Division and School. This position will be responsible for all strategic and operational HR work for the Online Unit while ensuring efficient, compliant, and consistent processes. Primary responsibilities of this position will be to manage all processes related to adjunct, faculty, and staff recruitment, retention, onboarding, payroll coordination, employment support, and employee lifecycle management plus work closely with the directors to improve processes, efficiencies, and communications. The HRBP will develop strong working relations with the Online Division, deliver value-added service to leadership and employees, and implement streamlined systems that enhance operational effectiveness.

Examples of Duties

  STRATEGIC HR PARTNERSHIP: 

  • Serve as the primary HR contact for Division of Online and Distance Educaton & School of Online & Professional Studies.
  • Support workforce planning, staffing needs, and operational priorities.
  • Support change management initiatives related to program growth and expansion.
  • Participate in team meetings as needed.
  • Provide guidance on employment law, University policies, and HR best practices, especially related to remote employees.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, performance concerns, and policy interpretation.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase the Online Division’s efficiency and service delivery for employee recruitment and retention.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of applicable State and Federal employment laws and University policies.
RECRUITMENT, ONBOARDING & EMPLOYEE LIFE CYCLE MANAGEMENT:
  • Post and manage open Online Division/School staff, faculty & adjunct positions.
  • Manage a consistent staff & adjunct hiring workflow.
  • Draft and process adjunct appointment letters for approval and signature.
  • Maintain Online adjunct pay tracking spreadsheets.
  • Collaborate with Payroll regarding out-of-state adjunct hires and wage compliance.
  • Assist with new hire orientation for staff, faculty and adjuncts.
  • Manage administrative HR functions including status changes, tuition waivers, and record updates.
  • Support Division of Online/School of Online and Professional Studies student employment onboarding and processes.
  • Maintain accurate data entry in the HRIS system and establish controls for data consistency.
  • Update and maintain internal tracking documents for Online including affirmative action log, vacant position report, payroll notes.
  • Assist in reviewing payroll data for accuracy.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support Human Resources and Online Learning operations.

Typical Qualifications

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly across departments. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Google); advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Experience with HRIS systems (ADP, NeoEd, or similar).
  • Working knowledge of employment law and HR compliance practices.
 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3+ years in Human Resources or related field, preference given to experience in higher education.
  • Experience supporting remote or multi-state workforce preferred.
