Our client, a respected organization in the greater Sacramento region, is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to join their team. The Human Resources Generalist serves as a trusted and versatile HR partner, supporting a broad range of functions across the employee life cycle. This role delivers operational excellence and a human-centered employee experience in leave of absence administration, benefits, health and safety, and general HR operations. The ideal candidate exercises sound judgment, ensures consistent application of employment laws and internal policies, and collaborates closely with employees and leadership to promote equity, compliance, and alignment with organizational values.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead administration of all leave of absence programs (FMLA, CFRA, ADA, state leave), serving as the primary employee contact and ensuring accurate coordination with payroll, benefits, and regulatory requirements.
- Support benefits administration, including open enrollment, qualifying life events, vendor coordination, and proactive employee communication on benefit options and wellness resources.
- Oversee Workers’ Compensation claims, return-to-work processes, and maintenance of health and safety programs, including IIPP updates and emergency response support.
- Provide day-to-day HR guidance to employees and managers, supporting employee relations intake, policy interpretation, documentation, and consistent application of HR practices.
- Manage core HR operations, including onboarding, offboarding, HRIS updates, personnel changes, organizational charts, staff directories, and policy/handbook updates.
- Contribute to HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance compliance, operational efficiency, equity, and the overall employee experience, while supporting general office and administrative needs as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible HR experience.
- 4–6 years of broad Human Resources experience with strong proficiency in California leave administration (FMLA, CFRA, ADA, and state paid leave programs).
- Working knowledge of benefits administration, employee relations practices, workplace health and safety requirements, and HR compliance standards.
- Strong communication, judgment, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage confidential information and support employees with professionalism and empathy.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate HRIS/ATS records, and deliver organized, detail-oriented work in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion, with strong integrity, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
