Are you a problem-solver who loves finding creative ways to fill staffing gaps and improve systems? Join the Office of Human Resources Management as our State Hospital Staffing Program Coordinator! You’ll be part of the Classification & Compensation team, but your day-to-day mission is all about supporting West Virginia’s state-operated hospitals.

Your job? Helping reduce the need for contract staffing by strengthening internal hiring, improving workforce planning, and keeping a close eye on staffing trends. You’ll work closely with the Department of Health Facilities to make sure hospitals have the people they need. 


What You’ll Do:

  • Lead efforts to reduce contract staffing by finding smarter, internal staffing solutions.

  • Work with hospital leaders and HR teams to figure out staffing needs and make things happen.

  • Review and track requests for contract staff—keeping them in line with state goals.

  • Monitor staffing trends and vacancies, and share the story through data and reports.

  • Manage a statewide staffing pool to help hospitals share internal resources when needed.

  • Pitch in with recruitment strategies that target real gaps in hospital staffing.

  • Handle personnel and financial tasks in wvOASIS.

  • Track staffing costs and ensure accurate and correct paperwork.

  • Build tools and workflows that make staffing smoother and more sustainable.

  • Present your findings and ideas to leadership—your voice will matter here!

  • Keep the communication flowing with everyone involved, from HR partners to hospital staff


The ideal candidate may possess the following abilities:

  • Recruit, interview, and assess applicants for suitability

  • Maintain organization and meet strict deadlines for numerous onboarding and regulatory paperwork requirements

  • Effectively answer questions and engage in public speaking

  • Exhibit strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage conflict and address concerns from applicants

  • Possess the ability to regularly evaluate and enhance the program

Minimum Qualifications

Training: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

Substitution: Candidates may substitute related experience for the required education at the rate of one (1) year of experience for thirty (30) semester hours of education.

Experience: Four(4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional human resources, payroll, bookkeeping or accounting experience.
Substitution: Graduate course work from a regionally accredited college or university may substitute at the rate of one (1) year of experience for fifteen (15) semester hours of education.

Note: A valid driver's license may be required.

Other Information

1 years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional supervisory and/or management experience may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
