Job Title: Human Resources Generalist
Job Summary: This position serves as a resource to managers and staff to provide counsel and support in the areas of recruitment and staffing, compensation and benefits, employee relations, performance management, training and development, and other Human Resources related areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities will include:
- Use discretion and independent judgment and professional skills to perform daily duties and to resolve operations issues related to workforce management and human resources.
- Communicate and interpret Human Resources policies and procedures for the company.
- Advise, coach, and assist managers with human resources related issues (e.g., employee performance and disciplinary issues, terminations, regulatory matters, training and development, etc.).
- Assist in ensuring Human Resources practices comply with organizational and legal requirements.
- Recruiting, to include posting openings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, conducting or participating in interviews, providing feedback and making recommendations on hiring decisions.
- Ensure thorough pre-employment testing, background checks, and reference checks are completed and bring any potential concerns to the attention of HR management.
- Ensure smooth pre-employment and onboarding for new hires, assisting with coordination, travel, and communication as applicable.
- Process new hires, employee changes, transfers, and VOEs.
- Assist with and/or conduct various employee and manager training and new hire HR orientations.
- Process employee terminations and layoffs; conduct exit interviews as appropriate, bringing concerns and recommendations for possible areas of improvement to the attention of the Vice President, Human Resources.
- Assist with handling employee relations issues and complaints.
- Administer employee leaves of absence.
- Assist with employee recognition programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field and a minimum of 3-5 years of human resources experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Human Resources experience in the construction industry.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
Travel to other offices and project sites will be required for this position.
