Position Overview


The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing a wide range of professional HR functions in support of the organization’s workforce and strategic objectives. This role administers employee relations, benefits, leave administration, workers’ compensation, compliance, learning and development initiatives, and special projects. The HR Generalist serves as a trusted resource to employees and leadership, ensuring compliance with federal and state employment laws while delivering high-quality customer service.


Key areas of responsibility include

  • Administer workers’ compensation claims, including reporting, documentation, and coordination with carriers.
  • Manage leaves of absence (FMLA, CFRA, ADA, and other applicable state and federal leave programs).
  • Oversee employee benefits administration, including annual open enrollment.
  • Administer unemployment claims and coordinate responses and hearings as required.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and maintain required postings.
  • Coordinate company events and employee engagement activities.
  • Manage pilot training and relocation repayment programs and related documentation.
  • Prepare and administer employee exit process packets.
  • Support learning and development initiatives, including course creation and monthly educational sessions.
  • Process employment verification requests.
  • Coordinate 401(k) communications, including onboarding communications for new hires.
  • Participate in special projects and other HR initiatives as assigned.
  • In addition to the essential duties outlined, employees may be assigned other responsibilities consistent with the role and organizational needs.

Requirements
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • Must meet airport badging requirements, including TSA security background check.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and remain in compliance with company insurance criteria required.

Job Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of EEO laws, Fair Labor Standards Act, Civil Rights Act of 1964, ERISA, and employment practices.
  • Knowledge of federal and state labor laws, insurance practices, and workers’ compensation laws.
  • Knowledge of general office procedures, business English, and math.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional and courteous work relationships.
  • Above-average analytical and reasoning abilities.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent activities.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience, preferably in a generalist role.
  • Demonstrated experience administering benefits, leaves of absence, workers’ compensation, and compliance programs.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 applications requires.  Knowledge of HRIS platforms such as Paylocity preferred.
