Overview

We are looking for a Human Resources Generalist for a growing team at an installation, manufacturing and distribution company in Sanford, Florida. We provide building materials for the residential building market statewide with locations in Jacksonville, Sanford, Melbourne, Winter Haven, Tampa and Fort Myers. We are the largest independent turnkey supplier for lumber, truss, doors, and windows for general contractors, multifamily and single-family builders.

Job Purpose

The HR Generalist is responsible for performing a wide range of human resources functions. This role supports daily HR operations, including employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and performance management. The HR Generalist serves as a key point of contact for employees and management, ensuring HR policies and procedures are applied consistently.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer employee benefits and assist with enrollment and inquiries
  • Administer FLMA and reasonable accommodation requests
  • Handle employee relations issues, investigations, and provide guidance on HR policies
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures
  • Maintain employee records and ensure data accuracy in HR systems
  • Support performance management processes, including reviews and disciplinary actions
  • Assist with payroll coordination and timekeeping processes
  • Conduct employee onboarding and orientation programs
  • Support training and development initiatives
  • Coordinate with our Corporate Safety Team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 3 years of HR experience (generalist or similar role)
  • Thorough knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Experience in employee relations
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred
