What you will be doing:
- Provide day-to-day hr counsel to management in the area of employment law and labor relations under the direction of the Regional MS Manager and EVP.
- Work with team members and management to resolve work-related conflicts.
- Conduct investigations, manage benefits eligibility, leave provisions and workers compensation processes, ensuring timely review and submission.
- Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
- Monitor monthly compliance reports, create action plans for area of responsibility, and prioritize location visits based on overall compliance opportunities.
- Execute strategy for Corporate MS initiatives and tailor delivery to division offices, managing the efficient rollout.
- Provide labor relations support in unionized locations. Participate in grievance meetings and contract interpretations. In union-free locations, make sure that proactive employee relations programs are in place to maintain union-free status.
- Manage internal customer expectations by communicating project status and issues; resolving concerns; analyzing time and cost issues; preparing reports.
- Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department, division/region and services performed.
About YOU
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; equivalent experience may be considered. Graduate degree preferred.
- 2+ years in an HR generalist role supporting a region or division of 300+ employees.
- Mastery of Federal and State employment law for the region/state of oversight.
- In-depth knowledge of California employment laws and regulations, with 2+ years of experience applying these laws in a professional HR setting.
- Experience managing employee relation issues from investigation to resolution.
- Superior communication skills, written and verbal, able to effectively address all levels within the organization.
- Ability to prioritize work within a multi-tasking environment and understand and meet deadlines and due dates.
- Demonstrated ability to complete ad hoc projects and deliverables as requested.
- Ability to travel to various locations/regional offices on occasion.
- Union experience preferred, but not required.
