Smith Industries is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our growing team. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys the administrative side of HR, from payroll and benefits administration to compliance and recordkeeping, while also being a trusted resource for employees and managers. The HR Generalist will play a key role in keeping our HR operations running smoothly and ensuring a positive employee experience across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage onboarding and offboarding, including new hire documentation, orientation, and benefits enrollment.
  • Support recruitment efforts with job postings, scheduling, and pre-employment checks.
  • Administer benefits programs and assist with open enrollment activities.
  • Prepare and process payroll, ensuring accurate PTO tracking, deductions, and reporting.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state requirements, including I-9 documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Support performance reviews, employee relations, and disciplinary processes.
  • Conduct HRIS data audits and recommend process improvements.
  • Maintain organizational charts and HR records in both digital and physical formats.
  • Provide general HR support and assist with special projects as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification a plus. 
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required. 
  • 3-5 years of experience in HR administration, payroll, or benefits coordination preferred. 
  •  Proficiency in HRIS systems, payroll platforms, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word). 
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with attention to detail.
