Human Resources Generalist, Fostoria, OH
Under minimal supervision, coordinates human resources programs and activities, and provides employee support in the areas of payroll, leave management, workers’ compensation, benefits administration, recruitment, hiring, onboarding and policy/procedure interpretation. Provides excellent customer service both internally and externally. Possesses and maintains knowledge of current human resource practices and methods including compliance with State, Federal and regulatory requirements.
What You'll Do:
Payroll | HRIS | Benefits
- Responsible for processing and validating the semi-monthly payroll; ensuring all payroll/personnel changes are recorded in the system related to new hires, terminations, personnel changes, etc.
- Maintains employee records and documentation.
- Processes and submits city and school district income taxes as appropriate.
- Primary contact for the benefits program, including new hire orientation and annual open enrollment.
- Provides timely reporting containing confidential and sensitive information to accounting, management, internal and external auditors as requested
HR and Personnel Administration
- Administers and manages the iterative leave process including administration of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Tracks and monitors leave ensuring Association compliance.
- Work with HR Manager to manage and administer Workers’ Compensation program, and provide wage, salary, and EEO-1 reporting.
Recruiting | Hiring
- Assists the HR Manager with the recruiting and hiring process including but not limited to job postings, hiring assessments, coordinating interviews, assisting with onboarding, etc.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or a related field
- 2-3 years of relevant experience in human resources
- Knowledge of payroll HRIS systems, Oracle experience preferred
- SHRM-CP or PHR preferred
- Working knowledge of payroll, FMLA, ADA, Worker’s Compensation, benefits, recruitment and hiring processes and general labor laws
- Possess working knowledge of business software applications, specifically Microsoft products
- Excellent communication skills with all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently and to maintain confidentiality
